By far one of the worst experiences I have ever had with getting glasses. The only good thing about this place is the doctors. They are very caring and professional. Now the staff is a different story. They want to upcharge you at every corner. I had to wait a whole month for my glasses. On the first week after I went in for my check-up, the girl at the register told me the insurance did not cover progressive lenses, I was ok with that, and willing to pay for them. Without saying a word, she changed them to bifocals. So when they finally came in, they were bifocals, and the manager told me that I had to wait four more day and pay 250.00 extra dollars. What a joke everywhere else it's 75 to 150 for progressive lenses. I would not recommend this place at all. It had been a bad experience. Go at your own risk. I added a photo of the glasses. Look where they put the bifocals. I have to cross my eyes while looking down Which gives me a headache. Way to go NY optical.
If you want eyeglasses, expect a visit with Dr. and a long wait. 3-4 hours. Behind the counter they push their most expensive brands many of which cost $599. It ridiculous. Even though insurance covers some of the cost it is an overpriced venue. They push all the extras too, light reflective, blue lenses, scratch resistance, progressives. 2-3 weeks before you get eyeglasses. I'm thinking there's a better way. it's usually very busy too. Dr. Buck is great though and takes his time to do what needs to be done.
The wait time to see your doctor is terrible. I’ve been here a few times already because I was recommended by a family member. The in between time from checking in to actually being seen is horrendous. My most recent appointment was at 10am, and I did not see my doctor until 12:29pm- and that was after I got up and spoke with 2 different ppl asking how much longer I had to wait because I had to be back at work at 1pm. Dr.C is super sweet and I am very thankful that he is thorough and he explains what he is checking for and examining as he is doing it. He answers any questions I have and I never feel rushed when I am doing the exam with him. I don’t know if they overbook their appointments and that’s why it always feels backed up when I am there, but this has been my experience on all my visits. As much as I appreciate Dr.C as my doctor, I don’t think I will return due to the lack of communication during the wait time.
I would give them ZERO STARS! I went to the wrong location and instead of informing me I had no appointment there and they had no Dr Cho present she’s across the street at Dynamic Optical they had me sit there TWO HOURS while they verified my insurance. I even got a text from the correct optometrist across the street saying I didn’t show up for my appointment and when I told them I got Sitting here, they said “oh yes, ignore that text. We just didn’t put you in the system“ which was yet another huge lie. When I went across the street, they saw me immediately. My insurance was fine. I paid my deductible. I saw the doctor immediately. I was treated. They called in a prescription immediately and I was out of there super fast. Dynamic optical was an amazing experience. New York optical was the WORST optometrist Experience I’ve ever had in my entire life !
I called for an appointment the day before and was told by the receptionist to walk-in the next day at 3PM. The next day, I arrived and I handed over my ID and insurance card. I didn’t wait long and was soon being examined by Dr. T. He was friendly and was genuinely curious about my life and well-being. I felt comfortable and safe. He was thorough and the exam was finished in about 30 minutes. The next step was billing. They couldn’t find my insurance, so they were ready to bill me 100% out of pocket. LUCKILY, Mayra Alvarez, the office manager was there and she said that she would try to find my insurance information. She was a huge help and I had a sigh of relief!!! Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend this business. I was there for two hours, but if I had all my paperwork in order, it would have been more swift! Great team I encountered!
NY Optical have great selection of designers eye wear. The service of the Staff is excellent and the optometrist are compassion and caring very professional and attentive to your need. Dr. T is very good and he is caring about your situation with your sight. A very savvy Dr. That does the up most for your eyes. So you be able to see life in its most spectrum visual atmosphere. A visit to NY Optical is really an experience that you will enjoy.
Got there a half and hour before my appointment time. And stood for 2 and a half hours. That's terrible service. The doctor said he was the only doctor available but the staff had the whole place packed. I went there for my son to get a exam. I will never go this facility again. If I can give 0 stars I would.
Not a good experience. Doctors seemed to rush to get me out as soon as possible granted they were busy without really answering my questions. When I asked about costs over the phone and I provided my insurance with the type of exams/products I wanted they never told me the price but after the appointments they tried to push me to buy 90 days worth of contacts which costs a lot of money but I just wanted trials. Also each time I called they would put me on hold for at least 10 minutes.
I’ve been using them for years. Expect a minimum of at least a 3 hour wait from arriving until completion of visit and this with a scheduled appointment. Unless you’re just picking up your glasses or something the waiting time is less. However, the staff is very accommodating. Love Myra who is the manager she is the sweetest person ever. Dr. Chapmen is great informative and funny.
Amazing and always clean always packed but when it’s not packed, it’s more personal this is a great facility. They help me with a lot even made me realize I have cholesterol in my eye which I never knew you could do that. Thank you for always having my back.
