Newport Police Department

The city is over run with herion users for some time business are being robbed on a regular basis. (The CIRCLE K across from the station has been robbed several times.) Recently a cab driver was murdered with a passenger in the car. I am a boring mid-thirtys mom and have no criminal record, yet I've been pulled over ( NEVER CITED) several times by Newport police because I drive a late model car, love my hoodie, and I'm black. After the 5th time in 3 years it became pretty obvious. To be so close to an inner city area Really? NOT 1 officer of color?? It's always been as Im on way home from work (night) and always by a younger officer. Instead of teaching your officers racial profilling try teaching them to open their eyes and ears to their community. Maybe good policing will clean up the clear drug problem.

The worst police department ever. I have had to call on multiple occasions one of them was when a child pedophile stopped at my house and they didn't do ANYTHING. They didn't even show up. The second time was today when I was sitting outside and saw a lady walking her dogs down the street and all of a sudden two other dogs attacked them. I called and again no one even showed up. The only time they come is when they get a drug call apparently. If you live in newport & have a problem don't count on this police department to be of any help.

The other night me and a few of my friends went to Newport to have a few drinks and have a good time. My girlfriend had a bit too much to drink and falling and cutting her face on the ground. We cleaned her up but the cut needed stitches so we waited for our ride to come and take us to the hospital. In that time 3 Newport police officers came up to us. Instead of taking a look and my injured girlfriend and applying basic first aid they began to question her to see if I hit her or not. Not a single one of them said anything to me or asked me what happened. I also later found out that they tried to get my friends to say that I hit her, even saying that "someone saw them do it". This never happened and even when the security guard who had the whole thing on camera came down to talk to us they still pressured my girlfriend and friends into saying I hit her DESPITE THERE BEING CLEAR VIDEO EVIDENCE THAT I DID NOT. Those officers acted like punks with guns and in no way tried to protect and serve the people of Newport.

When I was arrested the officer didn't put my seatbelt on when politely I asked him to 3 times.
