I want to commend the staff of the library for providing such a superior service to the community in difficult times. The recent addition of security has brought the old library of civic virtues and personal development back to our shores. It is once again a vital meeting place, and resource for the community. Thanks All

Staff are wonderful, and helpful. My service animal even enjoys our trips to the library.

Since moving to Newport, OR the Newport library has been like my second home.
The library is small but the services offered are on par or better than the library I used to frequent in Los Angeles. The hours are great, and staff I've encountered are friendly and helpful. Setting up a library card was painless.
They have a nice and surprisingly meaty DVD section, my only recommendation would be to perhaps separate the films by genre. (Very helpful to go straight to a section with comedies or foreign films, etc, instead of wading through the whole collection.)
WIfi is fast, and generally there are tables to sit at and patrons are polite and friendly.
Today, I requested a study room to practice language learning and it was clean and quiet.
It's a good place for self study, but at times it can get noisy (in the main study area downstairs) because of the open air children's area. But I can't fault the children for their enthusiasm, from what I've seen the staff did a good job with setting that area up. :-)
Overall, this is a great little library and if i had more time I would definitely do volunteer hours here.

Very helpful and courteous staff. Plus, they don't bother you if you spend the entire day there reading, relaxing and doing school work.
Great WiFi, Charging station, electrical outlets everywhere.
Magnificent collection of books, movies and periodicals. Plus a great Jazz cd collection!

There are some* friendly and helpful staff here but others are observed being sexist against the appearance of white straight males of military age, discriminatory against people who have been bullied and terrorized out of their residence, and harmfully unfriendly to help them use the services available. I will continue to post additional complaints about this location as I am able to prove by video, audio, and in person witness.

Subject: Discrimination at the Newport Library
Message: I was told that I had to provide a residential address and have a specific location that I reside to be able to use library services today by a rude and unfriendly female staff member that was not* wearing glasses around noon. This is discrimination through no fault of my own. No where on the application does it mention this policy as she said it does and she said it was on the web site as well which I have pasted into this message showing that it does not require a location that I reside. I also am providing a note from the DA office next door that claims that I reside in this county. "If you live in Newport or the Lincoln County Library District, you may get your library card by completing an application and providing proof of ID and your current address. Those under 18 years of age will need a legal guardian's signature. You may fill out an application at the Library or download and print one and bring it in with you."
