I give SightMD and the office I went to zero stars. I had to call SightMD 5 times to get an eye appointment. The first time hung up on. The second time gave me a number to an another office that didn’t even have my daughters doctor on staff. The third time I called they told me that the doctor only sees infants that are in incubators and that only a doctor can call and make an appointment. The fourth time I get transferred to the office than get hung upped on. The last time I called someone was able to finally email the office to get me an appointment. My daughter who is four months old and I arrive at the office for our 8am appointment. We are the first ones there but the third ones to be be called to the back. The technician asks what is the reason for our visit and says “I don’t know if I need to dilate the baby’s eyes”. She then has us sit in the waiting area. We end up sitting around for nearly 2 hours before I ask the technician are we next. That is when she informs me that the doctor is not even in the office yet. By that point I get up and leave and head to my next appointment which thanks to them I was late for. I would never recommend SightMD or the eye doctor office I went too. They were unprofessional and unapologetic about the situation. If you want a good place to get an eye exam or anything eye related I would recommend you go to the SUNY College of optometry
At Sight MD was seen prior to my appointed time, the technician and doctor seen were courteous at all times. My eyes were checked systematically and thoroughly, problems seen were explained by the doctor. The space was very clean and comfortable.
This is to share my 1st experience at SightMD after being a client of Medical and Surgical Eyesite previous management. This is by no means to make any suggestions, judgements or recommendations- just my personal opinion. The greetings were cold and indifferent don’t get me wrong, no one was rude. When I came in 5 minutes prior to my appt time, no patients were there, I was the only one. I looked around, made myself seen- until I stood up in front of the window and said Hello to have been acknowledged, no one said anything. It was just an annual eye exam, but I have to tell you, how I was greeted did set the first impression that they were doing me a favor letting me to have my appointment and, it wasn’t free, I paid for that visit upfront, and I’ll probably have to pay more when my bill arrives… For comparison, when the office was under previous management Medical And Surgical Eyesite, no matter how busy the office was, clients were acknowledged and welcomed as soon as they stepped in front of the reception desk. The technician was nice and professional, when he invited me to come through, he introduced himself and answered my questions while performing tests. He took all sanitizing precautions, which is greatly appreciated. However, while I and 2 other patients were waiting for the doctor in the inside waiting area, about 4-5 staff members gathered right there to quite loudly the area is small reflect on their personal opinions about management, supply issues i.e., how it takes to receive scrubs, sizes, etc. Obviously, nothing is wrong with that, if you don’t decide to do it in front of the patients, in my opinion. I mean, maybe I am too old-fashioned, maybe work ethics guidelines are changing and well-established customer care standards have been either cancelled or lowered – I don’t know. But, I can tell as a client being in customer service and healthcare field that all the above does not create a professional atmosphere, at least in my view, to take the office seriously. It was my first visit with Dr. Beatrice Whitaker. It was a pleasant and informative interaction. I do find that Dr. Whitaker is an experienced and knowledgeable specialist. And, I sincerely appreciate it and I thank her for that. However, I rate my overall experience from this visit as very mediocre and disappointing. I felt as if I visited a university lounge, and a real doctor accidently happen to be there – not a feeling you want to experience, i.e., when you have a life-long eye impairments you expect to visit a professional doctor office with professional staff and overall demeanor, understanding that you have to pay your hard-earned money for that visit. I did not feel appreciated as a client – no red carpet, but prompt greetings and professional atmosphere in terms of keeping personal interactions to designated areas, away from patients, would do just that. The bottom line, I will not be coming back to this office again. But I hope my comments would help staff to step up and improve.
The staff was wonderful giving me the testing I had to go through. When it came time to see Dr Saffra he took his time to explain everything to me, show me a visual of my eyes on his computer & was very thorough & kind. I would highly recommend seeing Dr Saffra!
Dr. Saffra is an amazing diagnostician. Dr. Saffra took care of me when I had an emergency and needed to be seen right away. He took great care and concern for my issue. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a retina specialist.

I was sent to Dr Safra by my ophthalmologist for an emergency retina surgery. I had never heard of Dr Safra before but it seems I was the only one that didn't know him because he is one of the most highly regarded retina specialist in NYS. Dr safra took control of my situation, explained to me my condition and set out a plan of action. Throughout the ordeal Dr safra saw that every detail, comfort, concern was addressed. He gave me his personal cell phone to be in touch either him and even saw me on Saturday evening. What an amazing, special, caring and phenomenal doctor. If you need a retina specialist Dr safra is your doctor. Yitzi
