Arguably the worst sushi we’ve tried in Boston. No idea why this place has such good reviews. The sushi we ordered was basically inedible and as sushi lovers and broke college students it hurt to have to throw away precious raw fish that we spent over $40 on! We ordered the salmon lover combo and the spicy tuna salad. The rice was undercooked and unseasoned. It was hard and tasteless usually the rice is dressed with vinegar. We decided to dig all the fish out from the rolls and leave the rice from the nigiri because it was so awful. The fish was extremely chewy—the tuna being a lot worse than the salmon. We ended up throwing out half the tuna because we couldn’t bring ourselves to keep eating it. You know it’s bad when the only good ingredient was the avocado. A very disappointing experience…
Really yummy sushi! Yesterday and today, I got the 2x salmon skin roll pictured, eel avocado roll, and shrimp tempura roll with eel and avocado specialty roll called rock n roll plus a seaweed salad. All were very good. The salmon skin roll was my favorite. Lots of different tastes and consistencies. The staff are very friendly too. I highly recommend this place.
Good Sushi, the only caveat is that it’s pricy considering that it’s a seafood market and they don’t have to ship inventory as much like other sushi places do. Rolls were solid, but tasted a bit fishy no pun intended. Maybe I didn’t get as good of a batch.
This is a must go for anyone who is going to Boston. This has the best lobster roll I’ve ever had period. They’re good is on the spendy side, but everything that they have is absolutely worth every penny. There is no indoor seating area, so be prepared to take your food on the go. There’s many ways to eat whatever you do order, whether you take it back to your place, or you just eat on the street, there is not a wrong option. I highly recommend getting their Spicy Tuna roll with one lobster roll. You will walk away so satisfied, you can then go back with the knowledge and power to order ANYTHING off of their menu with confidence.
This is the worst sushi I’ve ever had in my life. Not exaggerating. We ordered two sashimi deluxes. The whitefish was still frozen, the salmon was inedible, the tuna made us gag. I usually finish everything on my plate, but it was so bad, neither of us could eat more than a few bites of our $25 plate of sushi here. In addition, the storage situation for the fish in the store feels unsanitary. Raw salmon is left unrefrigerated and exposed on the countertop for extended periods of time.
North End Fish Market is my favorite spot for sushi. You will be underwhelmed when you walk in but will be blown away by how generous and delicious the sushi is. This spot is easy to miss from the outside. Look for the blue sign as you head down Salem St. On the right. Also note that there are no spots to sit, as this is a take out only joint. When the weather is good I recommend sitting at the park off of Cross St. just one block away. The flavors are unique, the quality consistent, and the service is great. My favorite rolls are Spicy Girl and Volcano roll.
We stopped by today to grab takeout sushi and a lobster roll while in town. This is one of the freshest sushi and lobster gems you will find in all of Boston. I have been coming here since 2012 and the quality has continued to be very high. Great service and top notch fresh seafood. All takeout.
Great place to grab some quick sushi, very friendly staff, good service. We were there during the slow season, sushi chef found us couple makeshift chairs so we can sit down and enjoy our food. Highly recommended :
Tried their lobster roll and it was ok. The claim chowder was watery and had no taste at all. Wonton crab was pretty good. Not sure about their sushi as I did not order any.Dine in: NoOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
Wow excellent sushi and atmosphere! The blonde man who took care of me at the register was so helpful and kind. He was able to recommend me some sushi items from the menu. He was so kind and eager to help me. I recommend all of Boston try North End Fish and Sushi! 5/5 Stars!
