NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, formerly known as Kings County Hospital Center, is a municipal hospital located in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York City. It is owned and operated by NYC Health + Hospitals, a municipal agency that runs New York City's public hospitals. It has been affiliated with SUNY Downstate College of Medicine since Downstate's founding as Long Island College Hospital in 1860. It was named the country's first Level 1 trauma center. Several police officers have been quoted as saying, "If I get shot... bring me to Kings County."Kings County serves the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island, with over 510,000 clinical visits and 140,000 emergency room visits in 2015.OverviewKings County is a member of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. It is designated as a New York State regional Level 1 trauma center and only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in Brooklyn.
