Had an appointment in the rheumatology department. If they are running late they will not give you any updates unless you ask. There was a snow storm yesterday, they told me to come early. 1.5 hours of waiting I finally go up to get an update and the nurse laughs in my face telling me dr Rackoff is late and the next patient will need to wait at least another 40 minutes and wouldn’t even tell me if I was the next patient as she laughed her way back into the doctors office all this after they cancelled my appointment last minute 2 months ago. So I actually waited 4 months for this appointment, hopefully I’m not dying. When it was finally my turn 3 hours wait I had just finished reading all the reviews of my doctor and came to the conclusion that she’s elitist and very possibly racist. Big shout out to NYU Langone for hiring awful humans like Dr Rackoff. Thanks but no thanks. I’ll take my chance waiting another 4 months for someone else than risk my life in this awful woman’s hands.
I've been to several PT places but never felt as respected and heard as I did at NYU Langone. I can't say enough positive things about the therapist I worked with. Also, all of therapists and assistants are very nice and quite helpful. Also, they don't take themselves to seriously that you feel they're uptight... which is a breath of fresh air. Another thing I liked about them is they care about how you do the exercises. They teach you the proper breathing, positions, and make sure you are doing everything correctly. The front desk staff is awesome as well.
I love this location. My doctor is the best I ever had. I travel 1hr & 15 mins but well worth it for the excellent care. Doctor, Gary Ho is so kind & understanding. I never feel rushed out the office. He actually listens to me an takes his time with questions or concerns that i have. He does a thorough blood count! He is very gentle with injections knowing I'm scared of needles. Yes, my grown self hides my face attends to shake but i barely feel a thing! I can't thank him enough for the excellent care he provides as a doctor making me feel comfortable I recommend him to everyone & anyone I know who suffers from bone problems, pain, & swelling with joints from arthritis, Osteoarthritis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis he is the best! Trust me!
I've been going for physical therapy on the 5th floor on-and-off for the past three years for botched foot surgeries. I'm in the NYU system so the process of getting an initial appointment was an easy process. The waiting area can get full but the front desk has an efficient system of checking us in. Every one of the physical therapists I've been assigned to over the years has been knowledgeable and friendly. This place was recommended to me and I suggest it as well.
I have a great Dr. Rackoff Rheumatologist. She maid diagnosis after years of me being in severe pain, and other debilitating symptoms. She prescribed medication that is finally helping me. Hospitals staff very caring. Very clean. Average wait. Sometimes double book though
I get all my medical care through NYU Langone. I go th physical therapy at this building, and see 2 of my orthopedists here. Beautiful building, friendly staff . Nice cafe in lobby - try their great soups
The staff and doctor are great. My main issue is how expensive visits and MRIs are at this location. Unless you have zero deductible health insurance, I would highly recommend double check beforehand how much you are responsible for. My shoulder MRI bill was $6,600. My insurance paid $5,000 for it.
The women in the front are so professional and kind. They found an appointment for me right away. Azra and Kenya are amazing. They will help you with anything. NYU is lucky to have both of them running the appointments for the orthopedic center. Very satisfied will be returning again.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems like every single medical center or office has terrible staff. This place is no different. They claim that they return calls within 1 business day, but it's been 3 business days and still no return call. I scheduled an appointment after a referral from an NYU GP two and a half weeks in advance. TWO DAYS before the appointment, I get an email thanking me for scheduling two x-rays that I did not schedule and had no idea what they were for. I called the office for an explanation and all I got in response was that the receptionist had no idea what was going on and that she refused to tell me who the nurse was who scheduled appointments for me without telling me. That is not legal, and completely unprofessional. She rudely told me that the nurse would call me, and then hung up on me. The nurse never called me. It's been 5 days. I tried to call to figure out what was going on, and I just keep getting the run around. I haven't even had any interaction with the medical professionals and I am already left with a terrible impression of this center. Please consider training your staff, or even making any attempt to screen them for competency before hiring them.
I'm deeply sorry for those of you who had a bad experience at NYU. I was referred by a coworker, and I'm glad I went , 4 1/2 years later I'm still attending, under the care of Dr. Amid Saxena and Dr. Charles Kim are the best, I am very pleased I'm under their care, I have severe chronic pains due to rheumatoid arthritis, without going into details because I'll end up writing a book, I'll just tell you that my Doctors are wonderful people they care and take the time to listen, and are concerned about my well being. I'll soon go for physical therapy and I'm pretty sure I'll feel as comfortable as I am now. About the nurses and staff on the 4th and 6 floors very polite and also caring and helpful. Thanks to my coworker Robin I am in good hands. I truly love this Hospital and hope that you would give it a chance. Thanks to all at NYU God bless stay safe. Millie B.
