My husband and I stayed here for 6 days. We had such a wonderful time. This Bed and Breakfast is very cozy and relaxing. The owner Russell is so friendly. The bed was super comfortable. The location is excellent. You just hop on the trolley and arrive at Bourbon street in 10 minutes. I can't wait to go back and stay here and enjoy such a beautiful city.
I had gotten a room for my friend for my wedding and I'm so happy I chose this place. Russell was so nice and accommodating and even offered to pick my friend up from the airport. The room was gorgeous and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. You can't beat a home cooked meal! Located right next to City Park, it's a beautiful location for a B&B and the street car is only a block away if you want to get into the French quarter. I would definitely come back and stay here myself.
To begin with, this was my first experience in a B&B, I called to make our reservations and Mr. Russell was so helpful. He helped me book all the rooms for whole weekend with my family for my wedding. This place is literally "a piece of heaven", placed in the most beautiful location. City Park is literally across the street, and the parking is free and he made us feel as if it were our own home. The hospitality and privacy we were given was unlike anything you get in any hotel. My goodness, the breakfast was AMAZING! On the day of my wedding, Mr. Russell 's wife made me a special sausage with cabbage and the homemade biscuits were to die for. They go out of their way to make you feel so welcomed and I recommend everyone stay here. Anytime I visit New Orleans, I'm definitely staying here. Our Hispanic family, felt like part of his, because he treated us like family. I had the best day of my life in New Orleans, and the best stay.
My friend and I stayed here during our spring break and thanks to Russell, we had an absolutely wonderful time. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an quiet, affordable and unique place with lots of history and charm. We stayed in the Magnolia room and it felt as if we were staying in a family members house which had all the necessities for an awesome weekend. The complimentary breakfast is worth it and I would definitely make sure to try Russell's biscuits and the coffee which is warm and delightful. The fact that it is so close to the trolley and museum makes this place an agreeable choice alone. If you plan on staying out late at the French Quarter, I would recommend taking a taxi back because the trolley does take a long time to get back to the B&B at night.
Absolutely amazing! Just returned from our weekend and Russell was beyond accommodating, even when we were unable to arrive until 2am and he was front and center giving us the formal tour regardless of time. What a great first time B&B experience and what awesome customer service we received. Trolley all day $3 day pass is a must and Bus are less than a block away, everything and all is literally a 15 minute walk, the home is so chateau, old French Renaissance and filled with artifacts along with memories of Russell and his family. Can’t forget the open bar, unlimited drinks, coffee and ice. It was perfect for us and they made us feel at home every nights stay. Breakfast in the morning was accommodating felt like an uncles knock on the door when breakfast was ready! and the biscuits are exactly what everyone raves about!!! Super delicious. We will recommend to anyone and we certainly can’t wait to make another visit.
My wife and I stayed in the Oak Room for the Crescent City Classic 10k. Clean, comfortable, and big! The location is ideal for a weekend in New Orleans. The Mid City neighborhood is a nice change from downtown, safe and quiet. But downtown isn't far away - the cable car stop is less than a block from the house. And Russell's biscuits are the best! We'll be back!
My stay here was actually a last resort due to all the other hotels in the city being booked for the New Orleans Film Festival. What it ended up being was my BEST STAY IN NEW ORLEANS EVER! First, let me talk about Russell, the inn keeper. Russell is the embodiment of hospitality as a professional in the hospitality industry myself, that's saying something!. He worked night and day to make sure that all of the guests needs were taken care of, he cooked breakfast, he ran errands, he entertained guests with his knowledge and expertise of the city. Next, is the mansion itself, it was charming, cozy and inviting. A little eclectic and odd in places, the rooms were something right out of a Victorian novel and staying at this hotel made you feel like you were not a guest in New Orleans, but a resident! Finally, the location, it's PERFECTLY placed! You may think you want to be inside the French Quarter, but City Park Ave is better! The Inn faces the park, which hosts many varying parties, festivals and events. Across the street is the cable car stop and for less then $2 you can take a quintessential cable ride right onto Canal Street. Parking is never a problem and probably a heck of a lot safer and cheaper! Why worry about parking in the quarter and getting your car hit or vandalized when you can park it in a safe neighborhood and cable ride it into town? CHOOSE THIS PLACE, you won't be disappointed!!!
I love this beautiful bed & breakfast which is a historic home located right across from City Park!!! It is beautifully decorated & the hostess is awesome!!! It has spacious lovely rooms, a grand dining room with delicious food prepared with fresh New Orleans ingredients and a very comfortable front porch, where you can sip Mimosas in the sunset with a picturesque view of the park! Highly recommended!!!
Location was prefect directly across the street from City Park where all of nawlins visits! Very quiet and safe. Street car stop 2mins away, goes straight to the French Quarter! The Home has vintage southern openness with lots of charm! Now finally but not the least was our host/ owner Mr.Russell was such a beautiful person with an amazing heart! Made us feel right at home and oh boy the homecooked breakfast was a plus! Please consider OBB as you will get your rest and relaxation and much more!
We were attending the Dance Theater of Harlem at the Mahalia Jackson Theater and instead of staying at a Hotel we decided to try a Bed and Breakfast out and the Oakview came highly recommended so we decided to give it a shot. It was perfect in every way! The location is right across from City Park on the Streetcar Line and the owner Russell was awesome! He is one of those rare finds that puts every aspect of the guest above anything else and is a hoot to talk with as well! If you have a chance and this Bed and Breakfast is available book it! ProTIp- if you can get the Oak room downstairs and thank us later!
