This man has no business treating children. I had an appointment set for my 11yo son, my 5yo daughter and myself. Unfortunately due to COVID, and my fiancé being an over the road truck driver whom we see once a month or so I am basically a single mom with 4 kids at home as I also have 3 month old twins. We barely make ends meet since I have been out of work since January and due to COVID I have been struggling to find a job and reliable childcare. When I made my appointment I made sure it was ok to bring my twins as I DO NOT have a sitter. The office staff ensured me it was fine. When we got there the office staff was friendly and understanding to a mom with 4 kids. They were kind and welcoming. They even offered to keep an eye on the twins outside the room for me so that I can focus on the appointment and the older kids. This is wonderful and I am grateful for the staff. The doctor however was rude and judgmental. My 11 year old was acting up a bit as we were walking into the room and I was trying to tell him to be quiet and the first thing the Dr did was reprimand me and my son by raising his voice and saying “Can we just get to this eye exam already!” We had barely sat down. Ok, so I am at this point embarrassed because my son was arguing and we were “yelled” at by the doctor. Then he starts to examine my daughter. She isn’t very tall and unfortunately the equipment was just a little too big. She had to sit uncomfortably tall just to be able to reach. The dr was impatient with her because she wasn’t sure what he was asking when he said things like “is this better or worse?” She is 5. The better question would be “does this help you see the lines better or are they kinda fuzzy?” She doesn’t really understand how the answers to the questions are directly related to her treatment. She was tired, cranky and just wanted to be done. He ended up having to dilate her eyes when he put the medicine in her eye he was tougher than I thought he should be with her, but she was fighting and then he squirted so much in her eye it poured into her mouth so that he could see better because a tired 5 year old isn’t easy to treat. At one point she said “I’m tired I want to go home” and his response was “I want to go home too but we have to deal with this so just listen to me”. He wasn’t kind or understanding with her in ANY way. Then it’s my sons turn because we have to wait for the drops to work on my daughters eye. He starts the exam, and my son is trying to explain what he is seeing and the doctor just cuts him off mid sentence and being rude and very short with him. At this point the lack of bedside manner from this man has frustrated me, but because a lot of places won’t take Medicaid for the exam I am trying to be calm. After my sons exam my daughter had to go to the bathroom so he opened the door and saw his staff holding my babies bottles for them and as they asked if my daughter needed the bathroom he is just standing there fuming and huffing. He then comes over to me and says “my staff is feeding your babies” I thought maybe he had lightened up so I chuckled and said “that’s really awesome they are so nice.”. He then proceeds to tell me that is not their job and I realize he is angry at me. I then get angry because it is at this point this “doctor” starts to tell me that I need to “get it together “ and find childcare if I have an appointment because it’s not his staffs job to help me out! At this point I am in tears and so angry all I want to do is tell him off and punch him in the face, but I really need new glasses and so does my daughter and he still isn’t done with her exam, so I grit my teeth and bear it. After he is done with my exam we bring my daughter back in and he rudely finishes her exam. After we were done getting examined we walked out to choose our glasses, and the lady that helped us with that saw how angry I was, and somehow new exactly what happened. She apologized as best she could and got us out of there as fast as she could. I am so sorry for the people who work for him! They are his saving grace!
