Occupational Therapy Advisory

If I could rate lower than 1 star, I would. It has been 8 months since I renewed and paid for my license, but never received a paper copy. I call every month, am transferred to full voicemails, or am hung up completely. The best advice I have received from the office is to keep waiting. The level of quality is an utter embarrassment to the state of NJ and to the profession of Occupational Therapy here.

Got my license diploma.... 1 1/2 years later after it was approved.

I've been trying to get in contact about my licensure for over a month now to see if everything was received. One time I'll call and one person will say something was received and then the next time they will say it wasn't. I've even sent an email with no response. I called for probably the 5th time today (every time I'm told to call back or they send me to a voicemail where no one ever returns my calls) and the lady told me I'd have to call back tomorrow. I explained to her that I've been told that the last 4 times I've called and no one is ever able to provide an answer. I asked if there was another way to get in contact with the person whose voicemail they are always sending me to and she just kept saying I will have to call back. I explained my frustration to her and that I'm trying to get my license so I can do a travel placement by my sister in November and that I just need to make sure everything I sent was actually received, since I've had to resend things prior since they said it was not received even though they were sent. I've also heard New Jersey takes a long time to license, so I started the process early and want to make sure all things needed are submitted. After explaining my frustration and asking if there was any way to figure this out sooner or if she could leave a message for someone, the lady stated, "nope" and then proceeded to tell me that I can go file a complaint if I'm not happy. She made it seem as if I was an annoyance for asking questions related to her job. I'm just trying to get my license and in all the states I've been licensed in, this has by far been the most difficult!

I have been trying to obtain my NJ license for MONTHS now and I still have not received it. I have called more times than I can count, left messages, sent an email and I either don't hear back or no one seems to be able to help me. I am constantly told to "call back." All required documents have been submitted months ago but somehow the majority of them are still pending. Seems like getting my NJ license is hopeless at this point....

I applied for my COTA license for the State of New Jersey back in January, and still have not received it yet. I call every month, and have done everything I have been required to do. It's alarming at this point, and the receptionist who answers the phone is not even that friendly to me. As if I'm a burden on her job. Michele M. Sosslau
