This hotel was the potential to be a solid 4 stars, but they are currently doing renovations which has left the place a bit unorganized. The room I stayed in was clean and in fairly nice condition. On the other hand only one light in the room was working. There were two lamps as well but neither was equipped with bulbs. The cable TV service wasn't hooked up to the TV in my room and I didn't see a phone in that particular room. I honestly would have given 4 stars if I'd had cable and bulbs in the lamps. The staff that I dealt with were friendly and eager to please but again the renovations didn't seem to follow any particular pattern from what I could see which was were the disorganization came in. I had an issue with the plugs in the first room I was given and they quickly apologized and set me up in a different room. I'm sure that if I had had any interest in TV or light they would have gotten me in a fully functional room. I was only there to sleep tho so I plugged my phone in and was content to stay in the second room. It wasn't The Ritz, but I would and probably will stay there again. Cause let's face it at less than $45 per night taxes included you can't go wrong if you're on a tight budget and want to be near or shall I say in the heart of downtown Jackson.
Honestly, very nice room for a very nice price. Room is clean and bed is soft. Yes the stairway could smell nicer and yes their are some spots that could be cleaner but I would still recommend to anyone on a budget or just not wanting to spend a lot. Definitely not as bad as the reviews I’ve seen.Rooms: 5/5
BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! I thought Olive Tree Hotel was going to be a nice hotel off the interstate. I was wrong! Save yourself and your money from this place. It started out great. The woman who was checking me in was very nice and polite and the men at the front were friendly as well. She told me the elevators didn't work and they didn't have any hot water in the hotel but the building in the back has hot water we could use to shower. I thought, "Okay. Not what I expected but I can make it work." They gave me a room on the 5th floor, so I had to take the stairs for a good minute. The stairs were steep so use the railing, but please wear a glove for your health. There's no telling what's not been wiped down from those railings or when the railings were last wiped down. I finally made it to the 5th floor landing and made it to my room. All the excitement I had dissipated as I saw how poorly outdated and unappealing the room was. The bed's cleanliness was so bad the mattress even had brown spots. Replace those mattresses!!! Did I mention there were bedbugs and the security guard at the hotel had to help me spray the room down? Neither I nor the security guard should be having to spray bedbugs away at the hotel. That's not what we are at the hotel for; I am a guest and he is a security guard, not a housekeeper or an exterminator. There were no towels or tissue in the bathroom, so I asked the front desk for towels and tissue. A second woman, this one with dirty blonde hair I would say, had the worst attitude because we asked for towels. She went and said, "Gonna have my other rooms uneven now." Who's fault is it that you can't successfully keep a hotel stocked with towels? Definitely not mine! She went looking through empty rooms for towels and found two for me there are no extra towels in a storage/storage supply room? . I told her I needed a couple more towels because it was me and my friend staying and she got an attitude again and said, "Now you asking for too much." I bet you she got me them towels though. I don't care how much she doesn't like her job, I'm not the one, the two, or the three. She needs to start cleaning up those abandoned rooms at the back of the hotel and maybe she'll find some more towels and the right one to get smart with. The abandoned rooms at the building in the back were so cluttered and messy, I honestly felt scared walking on the sidewalk near their windows. The guest laundry area looked like a place you'd try to hide a body so I wouldn't even recommend asking about it. If you have the extra money, spend it on a better hotel or try to sleep in your car. Anything is better than this place unless you just need somewhere with a bathroom, in which case I recommend going to a travel station instead. The only good thing about this place was how close it was to a gas station and several fast-food places but even that can't save this abysmal business. TEAR IT DOWN! TEAR IT DOWN! TEAR IT DOWN! Let someone who wants a better hotel experience for guests visiting the Capitol City build a new hotel on the site. Olive Tree Hotel is doing nothing but disrespecting the City of Jackson by running so ineffectively. The city council needs to take action against Olive Tree Hotel so a new developer can come and give the City of Jackson a new hotel, a better one, that people can be proud to visit.
The worst hotel in the world! Pictures on website should be updated. Elavators are not working and they put us on 4th floor. We had to take the steps up and down every time. Theres no hot water. They had excuses for everything. Bathroom was not clean. There's no towels, soap or shampoo/conditioner. The Nonsmoking room I got smelled horrible-especially with cigarettes. Stay away from this place!
This was clearly an experience of great disappointment. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient with information about my stay and answered all my questions with high regard. But my disappointment lies with the housekeeping staff. The room smelled of urine, was occupied with roaches and flying insects. The bed linen had cigarette burns and no pillow cases. If I didn’t pack appropriately I would of never had a way to clean myself. The only thing provided was tissue and a hairdryer attached to the wall. As for entertainment there was no television in the room. I experienced all this to say that the hotel is in a transitional period the construction team is present and working on the establishment. Overall they have affordable rates and extended stay services. So please enter with caution.
This is the most poorly managed and gross hotel I have ever checked into. Elevator broken and no hot water. Hall was littered with trash with french fries all over the floor. Room didn’t have pillows and smelled wretched. People loitering outside late at night didn’t feel safe. Did NOT end up staying here after I saw the room - even after hiking up 4 flights of stairs with my luggage.
While this is an affordable place to stay it's not for the faint at heart. There's no microwave, no mini fridge no towels you get 2 rolls of tp at check in maybe. Some rooms do not have working tv's. If you need shelter for about $39.10 is all I can say. Oh most of the staff pretty nice
BEWARE!!!.. Booked a room, but before we even looked at the room we asked for a refund! The outside is dirty rundown and creepy. We were told they had no towels or hot water. So we couldn't shower. Creepy people walking around everywhere. We were out before we were even in!! LOL. DO NOT STAY HERE!! TEAR THIS DISGRACE OF A HOTEL DOWN!Rooms: 1/5
The place doesn't even deserve a star. Went there back in October for Jackson State Homecoming. Check in was at 3 p.m and when we got there and walked it the smell of this place is ridiculous in the lobby. They had a fan going but that only made matters worse. So I proceeded to check in and got my belongings and got to the escalator and only one of them works. So finally got to the floor and the escalator opened up the halls was filled with smoke and it smelled like urine it was just awful. We didn't even bother going to see the room at all. We simply went back down stairs and got our refund and left. This place should not be open at all. It is not healthy for anyone to be living there period. The pictures online are very misleading to customers as well.
This hotel didn’t even deserve 1 star!! This place should not be in operation. My room was a disaster!! When I entered my room after walking 5 flights of stairs because the elevators didn’t work, I was scared by a cockroach on the wall by the broken light switch. Additionally, there was no TV, fridge, shower curtain or towel. There was dried blood on my blanket, and the wardrobe had food and trash shin high!! They would not give me a refund…even after the disgusting state the room was in. Totally unacceptable and appalling. I wish I could show you the pictures I took.
