OTF is the highlight of my week! Each class I feel empowered to push myself and leave better than I came in. The coaches and staff know everyone by name and push you to be your best. Thank you OTF MVT!
A nice place if you don’t care about personal classes, and coaches and staff are really nice. But, they are ruthless with their cancellation/freezing policies. After having a new baby and going back to work I’m a physician I tried to cancel/freeze my subscription for time and financial reasons. The last day of my month I tried to do it, and because it is the day they charged me, they want to charge me TWO more months before cancelling my account due to their policies of not letting them know the month prior basically one day ago. Absurd, abusive and inflexible even in the setting of trying to cancel for financial and personal reasons. Maybe if they were more empathic and helpful, I would have freeze my account, but this situation made me cancel and will not consider OT again in the future. I guess this is an issue with big gyms like this one, a lack flexibility.
I like that Orange Theory workouts have a lot of variety, in both the layout of each class moving between rower, treadmill, and floor and the goals of each workout endurance and/or strength. The workout makes you work, pushing me harder than I would push myself on my own, and goes by quickly as you listen to the instructor and move between each section. I also appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff is. Initially, I thought it was a little overkill to have to be there 30 minutes prior to my first workout, but that time was valuable to learn how the class works, what to expect, get setup with a heart rate monitor, and review any injuries that the instructor should be aware of. All in all, it was a great experience!
Love working out here! Instructors are great and the facility is modern and relaxing. Can't wait to come back!
Love my home studio! I have been a member of Orangetheory for over 2 years, and I continue to LOVE this workout. No two workouts are ever the same. The staff at this studio is very friendly and accommodating. They help you understand the policies and work with you on the technology involved. Plus, they added a towel service which I know is not offered at other studios outside of DC area to stay competitive with the intense gym market. You can customize your own workout, so if you are looking for a new challenge but feel intimidated check Orangetheory out.
I came in as a visitor for a couple months while on an internship in DC. I LOVE my Orange Theory studio in Michigan. I love the workout obviously, and that doesn’t change based on studio, but I love the coaches, the staff, the atmosphere. It feels so welcoming and kind. I loved it so much I didn't want to give it up and was willing to pay extra money for this premium studio so I wouldn't miss out during my internship. My experience at this studio, however, has been mostly negative. The music is incredibly loud which makes me sound 90 I know, but outrageously loud and when I asked if it was possible to turn it down a little because it physically hurt the coach laughed at me. They did give me ear plugs which I wore each time, and I did appreciate, but even after explaining the effect of an 85+ decibel exposure over an hour and its impact on hearing loss, they made no attempts to change. Some of the coaches are wonderful, while others are pretty intense and drill sergeant-y, which I guess is probably the case in many places but they don't feel as connected to the people as I've felt at other studios. On a particularly tough day I got out of work late due to a student crisis, got stuck in traffic in my Uber, ran two blocks, ran in the door at 4:38 for the 4:30 class and wasn’t allowed in. It wasn’t a full class that was just their policy. I am not normally late to classes, usually crazy early, but the one time an exception couldn’t be made. My studio at home were so kind and understanding about a situation similar to this, but not so much here. I will say a couple staff members and coaches have been nice and friendly, and I don't want to leave the impression that it is all bad. It isn't. There are a couple gentlemen behind the desk, a coach Ashley I haven’t had all the coaches to be fair, and some wonderful clients who are all there to make it as positive as possible. But, I guess with all the other studios in DC I would suggest finding one that cared a bit more about the clients overall. They are out there and I think in the end it makes a difference.
The music was a tad loud and I found a bit hard to listen to the instructor but I think that was just how the instructor was managing the mic etc The rest was great. The usual really good lots of calories burned workout. I was specially impressed by the way they were ready to receive me with paperwork and a locker as well as water for me to take into my class. Felt very welcomed!
I love Orange Theory. I've been a member for over a year and I love the workouts. I don't get bored during the classes and I walk out feeling great afterwards. I love it so much, that I picked an apartment near a studio when I moved. That said, I highly dislike this studio. I recently canceled my membership and will not be attending the classes here for three reasons. First, the front desk staff are not polite. On several occasions, someone Mariah? said she would call me back and never did. In person, several staff members were rude. Some of them were misinformed and would give me bad information, then other staff members would act like I was crazy when I was confused. The staff is the biggest reason that I am leaving--I had problems with billing and classes being charged outside of my membership, and I got tired of having to chase people down to get things fixed. Second, its difficult to get into a class. The convenient times have long waiting lists and I haven't been able to get into classes on the weekend. Plus, with the 8 hour cancellation policy, it is impossible for me to schedule a class too far in advance because my job can be unpredictable. Third, the instructors are very okay. Not bad, but not great.
I love Orange Theory Fitness and was visiting from my home gym. Unfortunately I was really disappointed with my experience with this location. In general I didn't find the staff very welcoming; the other members in the classes hardly communicated with each other giving it an unfriendly vibe. The music in the lobby all three visits was inappropriate curse words, etc. The AC broke--not their fault but a warning would have been nice as it was really hot and humid outside that day. I was warned about the 10$ charge for the honor of coming to their studio? but was assured this was a one time fee. Nope--10$ each class. Nice little surprise on my credit card statement. I called only to be told I must have must have misunderstood and the charges would stand. Next time I will work out in the hotel.
