Our 10 y/o son joined Oregon Music Academy to learn guitar a few months ago and absolutely loves it. He is obsessed with what he's learned thus far and we can tell he'll be passionate about guitar for the rest of his life. We always feel welcome when we attend our weekly sessions and are amazed at what he's learned after just 10 or so lessons. He's already learning Tool, Green Day, Foo Fighters, and System of a Down riffs, so I'm in heaven!
The staff, music instructors, and facility are all fabulous. So glad to be a part of this school. Big shout out to Renee and JoLee for easily working through the administrivia so little dude can focus on shredding.

They are primarily interested in your money, not a great place to learn.
I am an adult student that was excited to learn a new instrument. Last year I began looking for a good teacher in the Portland-metro area. At first, the Oregon Music Academy seemed like great place to start. The rates were a little high, but everyone seemed friendly, the website looked great, and it was nice that they had an established building to facilitate lessons. However, as time went on I started to feel more and more like they viewed me as income rather than a student. The lessons were expensive compared to private teachers in the area, but they lured me with the promise of a scholarship that would reduce the monthly fees by 10%. Within 2 months there was an inexplicable rate hike that abolished the 10% discount. I brushed it off, but when my financial situation changed and I inquired about doing 2 or 3 lessons per month instead of 4, they said "We don't do that here." I responded by telling them I couldn't afford their monthly tuition, but would love to continue playing by taking fewer lessons each month. They made it very clear to me that it was either full price or nothing at all and they were not willing to accommodate me in any way. Needless to say I left and found a private teacher and I am much happier now. Save the time, and go find someone who is more interested in the music than the money.

I loved my short time with you guys! Kayla is an awesome teacher and really knows how to work with beginner students! I picked up the viola, with her help, and am coming along great! Although I won't be gone too long, I hope she is still there upon my return. Also, you guys rock at communicating! Thank you so much for everything. I'll be back!!!

The cello lessons with Mike are going very smoothly. My 8 yo really enjoys coming every week and I think Mike is a great teacher, very patient and who takes time to understand my son's way of learning. He started about 8 months ago and I can see already that my son starts to enjoy learning new songs and notes. Our experience with Oregon Music Academy in Tigard has met all my expectations.

❌All I can say is WOW.❌
OMA owner (Mr . Dolphin) is supposed to be teaching youth and the community music but he cannot even handle his temper.
For everyone that does not know please do your research on this company and this guy before you take your children to his business.
5/28/16 - Mr. Dolphin cried about a parking spot and almost runs over a group of people at the business next door to his all over a national cornhole tournament being played, and literally drove over the game.
He was arrested for his acts.
I wouldn't recommend at all.
