Fantastic sushi close to home! Been craving sushi since we moved to the area, decided to give Osaka a try and it did not disappoint. We got the Godzilla roll, spider roll, spicy squid roll, fried calamari, and a glass of wine for under $50!! The fried calamari was the only thing I was not in love with; it wasn't bad, I've just had better elsewhere.
1 star gets removed for service. The waiter we had was very nice but I had almost forgotten about my wine because it came after our food was served. He didn't give us any eating utensils or plates (he genuinely forgot) before or after our food was served. My boyfriend ended up stealing some from a vacant table close by, the waiter apologized, not that big of a deal. Biggest pet peeve though was when I handed the waiter my card with the bill and he still slid the receipt tray back to my boyfriend when he came back. That's not a reason to not return, it's just a pet peeve that I have when staff assume the male of the table is paying.
Overall, we will definitely return! The sushi was great! We will have to expand more off the menu and give our waiter a second chance 😉

My hubby and I are from Arkansas but visit his family in Illinois. They took us here for dinner one night, and what a show! Our chef was hilarious and great! Food was awesome except I didn't like the noodles. I usually hate fried rice but he made it delicious! Servers were great too!

Food was awesome and service was even better! So why take away a star....to be picky and set a higher standard. They need a curtain to hide the drink station, otherwise make it match the restaurant atmosphere and decor. The poke bowl needs less rice and more substance. But truly one of my best Springfield experiences. Thanks Osaka 👍

Our family made reservations to celebrate High School graduation. We chose Osaka because it used to be one of my daughter's favorite places to celebrate special events.
Over the last few visits, we have noticed a decline in service, food quality, and cook's presentation skill. We chose to give it one more shot. A regrettable decision. Once again our service, food quality, and presentation left a great deal to be desired.
Service was next to non-existent. We tracked down random workers to request refills. We had to remind her to get the steamed rice. Our dirty appetizer, soup, and salad dishes remained on the table all the way into the serving of the actual meal. The cook had to reach over the dishes to give us our food. Once we got tired enough of looking at them, we gathered them ourselves and moved them to the empty table next to us.
The restaurant was slow so there was no excuse. In addition to the bad table service, we got overall bad customer service. There was a cook next to us, when we sat down, that was so lacking in presentation skill that you could almost say he had no interaction with his table. On the other hand there was an extremely energetic and skilled cook at one of the other tables. We privately asked our server for that cook when the time came. She made it seem as though our request could be granted. Even advised she would bring The kids cake with sparklers for the celebration. Much to our frustration, the "bad cook" showed up at our table.
Like the other table, he had little presentation skill or interaction with us. The rice was bland. The noodles had an overwhelming butter flavor, and the veggies were burnt. The meats were either over or undercooked depending on type. The scallops were gritty and had a rubber texture. You almost needed a knife (Which you don't get). The grill was not fully scraped and cleaned at the switching of foods. Which meant we all got scraps of blackened burnt food with each scoop onto our plate. The soy sauce bottles have not seen a cleaning in a while.
This was the last chance we will taking on Osaka. It has become a complete waste of money.
