I liked this place, their food was pretty suitable for a fancy dinner with friends, or if you just wanna treat yourself after a night out. I loved their hummus and the fact that it came with some pita bread chips on the side. They were very crispy! The beef was very well cooked and full of flavor. But I felt like the dish I ordered was a bit dry, because it was simply white rice along with beef and salad. I would recommend if they serve some sauce with it, or pour something over the rice so it’s less dry. But overall, I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. There’s a lot of big windows which is perfect when the sunlight lights up the whole restaurant around noon time. See pictures!
I cannot say enough great things about Ottoman Tavern. The food was absolutely out of this world, I don't think I've ever had food that tasted so fresh. Service was also exceptional and frankly in downtown DC the price was perfect. My wife and I both did the Trip to Turkey $34 for a 4 course meal and were not disappointed in the least. This is an absolutely must try if you're in the area and if you're not you need to go there.
My first time trying this place with a group of coworkers when I traveled to DC and what a treat we had! We ordered from the Trip to Turkey 4 course meal which was very affordable and filling. Everything fresh to order and the seasoning was so authentic in my opinion. The wine was also great with friendly staff to help you navigate the menu. If you've never had Turkish food it's a must try and this is the perfect stop to do so.
Recently I have been to this Turkish restaurant with a friend of mine. We walked in, without prior reservation. It was around the lunch time, and we were greeted by the staff and settled in a neat table. The food is great! It was beyond my expectations. The restroom was clean and well maintained.
One word: Wow. This food was amazingly well cooked and seasoned to perfection. They brought out fresh sesame seed bread that reminded me of foul tamees back home. The cold mezze platter was a great compliment to the grilled food, along with the exceptional service. Food arrived quickly, and the waiters were attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for authentic tasting food.
It’s been a few years since I been to Ottoman Taverna in DC, so when my friend wanted to try their brunch offerings I immediately said YES! You can’t beat a Michelin star restaurant offering a bottomless brunch for $45. And that includes your choice of unlimited mimosas or Bloody Mary’s. The restaurant is strict on the two hour time limit, so don’t waste your time perusing the menu. Just dive into the Turkish odyssey
My husband and I came here for dinner on our New Year’s Eve weekend in DC, and we really wanted to love it. But it was really loud, the food wasn’t worth the price, and we felt very rushed. We did really love the drinks and the starters—I highly recommend the hurrem sultan, which is their take on an espresso martini—but the main course and dessert left us wanting. We went back to our hotel and ended up ordering room service.
This restaurant is outstanding! My uncle, who is originally from Turkey, came to visit and we took him to this restaurant it was our first time too. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! We started with the IÇLI KÖFTE and had to order extra, we also ordered MANTI, LAMB CHOPS, LAMB Şiş, MOUSSAKA best Moussaka ever... I can easily say that the lamb chops with smoked eggplant was easily the best lamb chops I have ever had. Absolutely delicious! We will definitely go back! One quick note, the restaurant entrance is on 4th, around the corner from the actual address.
We came to the restaurant with my family, and the first thing we noticed was the nice atmosphere and welcoming waiters. The food came quickly and was very delicious; all of the food was authentic and well-made. The Bayti Kabob & lentil soup were so delicious, but Baklava & Dondurma are fantastic! I recommend going here for a family dinner or a dine/in.
Fantastic food and service at this stylish, Turkish restaurant. There is a great atmosphere for both casual and upscale visits. The mixed grill for two was a tasty way to try a variety of items at once.
