One of the better first come-first serve campgrounds I've visited around Alberta and Saskatchewan. Close proximity to Calgary 40 min with easy access to plenty of hiking trails. Don't expect it to have high mountain peaks like Banff/Canmore as it's just before the mountain range starts, but great views nonetheless and much less crowded. Only downside is no free firewood available bring your own or you can purchase for a ridiculous price. Backs right onto the Elbow river.
Beautiful quiet peaceful campground, we went during a week and it was a blast had the place pretty much to our self's. Stayed in B loop awesome site Toilets: Very clean outhouse
It's a quiet little campground, and visitors are always friendly. Playground for the kids, washrooms are always clean. Lots of walking trails along the Elbow River.
Paddy’s flats is awesome. I almost don’t want to post a review so we can keep this gem to ourselves. The sites are big. The attendants are friendly. The bathrooms are really clean. They have firewood for a good price. It’s is great if you like mountain biking and camping and the river is dang cold but it feels great after a full day of activities!! Lots of trails around! It’s a first come first serve site.
Very quiet camping spot, great for tenting also. We arrived around 8pm and the firewood truck came around about 3 times which is great for people who ran out of wood. We went on Friday-Saturday of may long and it was very busy but so quiet. The washrooms were also pretty clean. I’d definitely recommend camping here. We didn’t get to enjoy the paths to the creek but we will next time!
Always great out there. Campsites kept nice and clean, staff is always friendly, rates are fair for what it is. It draws a family crowd and many people with dogs enjoy camping here. Very foresty, lots of trees, path to river right beside campground. Comes with water pumps that are always fun for the kids and useful for other things. Fire pit size varies most are small-ish. Campsites are better for group camping as they seem clustered together in small groups. Overall a great place to go camping especially with your family and pets! :
Paddy's Flats is a great camping area. Family friendly, couples friendly. Walking paths all around that take you to the river, a play ground, outhouses that are kept clean and very well maintained.
More signaling would be great, but this is a great family nature walk! Opportunities to get close to the water, have a picnic in the rocks! No Day use parkade, you have to leave the car at the campground gate. Trail starts in front of spot A13. Only inconvenience was the sounds of the ORVs from McLean creek
The sites are well-treed and feel as private as could be expected on a campground. As there are no reservations you might have to drive around awhile to find an open spot but at least the “occupied” cards make it obvious. All the self-registration kiosks were out of firewood cards so I had to track down the campsite manager to get a bundle. They drove around slowly later so we were able to flag them for more wood. The river is close and the trails along the river are beautiful. You can spend a lovely day walking along the elbow river trails. The toilets were clean by outhouse standards and there are non-potable water pumps.
We like this campground very well maintained the Pit Toilets are very clean The entrance off the highway does need some attention as it has huge potholes and you almost have to stop to get thru them so be aware when traffic is coming from the opposite direction
