PCI Academy Iowa

I've been going to PCI on and off since I was thirteen. Overall, I really love PCI! I would recommend anyone to go there. I would say to remember to be specific and bring in pictures. Make sure you relay all information to the instructors as well as your stylist. Love the update they recently have had. Makes a great environment. My only complaint is nitpicking on pricing... $5 to straighten or curl your hair seems silly when you're paying for multiple services.

I scheduled an appointment with a girl that had a deal going where it was 31 dollars for a cut and color so a pretty good deal. I got there and the surroundings there was really noisy and chaotic. I showed them the picture I wanted and didn't do at all what I wanted in the picture and took them 4 hours just to color cut and do my eyebrows. I was stressed the whole 4 hours not knowing what to expect and sat there with nothing to do. When I went to check out I ended up paying way overpriced and not 31 dollars and charged me extra for a balage which was 40 extra on top the 31 dollars and extra 17 dollars each for three different color zones which had no clue what the hell that was and wasn't informed ahead of time that I'd be paying all this just so my hair was "nice". Probably won't be going back anytime soon.

I really like the concept of this place and was hoping it would be my new favorite place to get my haircut, but sadly it didn't accomplish that in the least bit. I came promptly at 8 PM as I knew they closed at 9 PM and they said to budget an hour. Well they had me wait for 8 minutes as a group of girls were circled up laughing and then finally one had to be bullied into giving me the time to cut my hair. We agreed upon what style of hair I wanted and the lengths. Well my hair cut lady was nice enough person to talk to, but didnt follow any of the agreed upon lengths or style. When i asked to have the sides shortened she seemed like i was being super high maintenance even though the 2nd time it wasnt even as short as agreed upon. Then she cut the top of my hair which should have been easy. When I asked to have my bangs shorten after her first round she BARELY trimmed the 2nd attempt then said good enough since it was getting close to 9. Her trainer came by and showed her several areas that could be improved upon and attempted to show her, but again it was getting close to 9 so i think her focus had drifted else where. She didnt even style / vacuum/ clean up my hair at the end so it looked like a hot mess. Following that they tried to pressure sell me into signing up on the spot for a 2nd apptmt... good luck with that. When it was time to pay my hair cut lady walked up to the counter with me and i had to say in front of her verbally what she deserved as a tip. Kind of shady tactic in my opinion as your not going to give a lower tip even if appropriate unless you are truly soulless creature with her staring you down. In end the whole experience took 1 hour and 24 minutes. The atmosphere of the place was semi unprofessional as well. They werent rude, but if this is a school teaching how to cater to a service industry they are a long ways off. Going forward I will go somewhere else having to pay a couple bucks extra, but saving a bunch of time... PS- my bangs are still so long that I will likely have to go get them trimmed in next couple weeks somewhere else :(

I highly recommend scheduling an appointment with Clara A. or Allie B. I'm very picky when it comes to my hair and Clara listened to exactly what I wanted. I'm so happy with the results. She made me feel more confident and I can't wait until my next appointment with her 😊

I told the student that I wanted my hair cut colored and highlighted , I told her an inch of the back and an inch and a half off front she cut all the highlights out and she cut my hair way to short and my bangs have a big gash in them and it can't be fixed. I will never have my hair done there again. I want my money back I paid way to much for a horrible job.
