Philadelphia Mike's

Located in the Crystal City underground mall, it offers the usual burgers, hot dogs, and sandwich menu, but specialize in the Cheese steak sandwich both chicken and beef. You can also get salads, fries, and onion rings sides to go with the rest of your choices. Service was speedy, despite the line, and the food was tasty.

I've worked in the building above this establishment for three months but, I've been avoiding this place because of the previous reviews. Today I gave it a shot. I ordered a Ruben and small fries. Both came out relatively quickly and both were plenty hot. I sat at that little table right in front of the register to catch some of the rudeness expressed in earlier reviews and I didn't see any. The guy must be in a good mood today. The sandwich was adequate and the fries were hot and fresh. Update: I visited this place again. This time for a cheese burger and fries. No complaints.

I live above the crystal city shops, and work from home, so I tend to get lunch down there quite a bit. This is definitely the best option for lunch there. The sandwiches are better than the subway and potbelly alternatives, and their fries are always crispy. The prices are good, and the quality of the food is good as well. I have yet to be disappointed.

Not the best; not the worst. The steak and cheese was huge but the meat was a bit dry and crumbly. The burger and hotdog is about what you'd expect. They do the job. By far the best thing I've eaten there so far has been the french dip sandwich. Also their fries do not disappoint. I've heard good things about breakfast but haven't tried it yet.

AVOID. I've eaten there a few times; not because it's good or even quick food but only because it's the closest lunch spot to where I work. I started to notice that every time I ate there I'd get sick and have to spend extra time in the restroom that afternoon. The food isn't good enough to risk food poisoning. Plus they are rude. the last time I was in there I had just paid $8 buck for a sandwich and was waiting for it. I asked the owner if I could have a cup of water to take medication while I waited. He rudely said, "You can't have water". He on the other hand can have a single star.

The lunch rush is brutal and we waited 35+ min to get 2 sandwiches... but the selection is great and the food quality is good for the price. We've enjoyed it for lunch twice while staying in Crystal City.

Very rude service! I bought a Reuben to go and forgot to get a cup of ice. When I went back to ask for it he refused to give it to me without charging me. Since I only had a credit card and no cash, I'd need to make a.minimum $5 purchase, even though I had just bought a sandwich for $7. Unbelievable! The folks at Subway are.much nicer I went over there and they gave me a cup of ice! I won't be going back to Philadelphia Mike's. I'll stick with Subway!

OMG! Please do not eat here!!The first time I came here they gave me the wrong food because the wife’s English is not good. When I asked if she was willing to remake it she and her husband got a nasty attitude and started saying negative things about me - not knowing that I spoke their language. The second time I came was because a coworker was buying food. When we looked into the kitchen we seen two roaches in a matter of minutes. We were disgusted and walked out. Although you cannot tell from the outside, this place is very nasty! Please do not waste you money or risk getting sick.

My favorite breakfast sandwich is sausage/egg/cheese w/hash brown patty/crunchy fried onions and mayo on a croissant. They also have delicious chicken salad.

False advertising on specials - look on the whiteboard for the specials and double check on the menu behind the cashier for the prices. The say something is on special listed on whiteboard and there is difference in the regular price. I asked them why they advertise it as a special and the older manager/owner brushed off my question and said it was the same price. Subway is right around the corner and have never been overcharged and/or have they used false advertising. Owner might want to rethink his tactics.
