I had a first-rate experience consigning photos with them. Beautiful new gallery on Park Avenue, NYC. Well executed auction, with live auctioneer and bidders in the room, on phones, and online. Achieved very high sell-through rate on my collection. Phillips' staff was professional and helpful in every interaction. Chris in the photo dept provided thoughtful, accurate, expert advice that was in-tune with the market, and stayed involved from start to finish. Excellent experience - would recommend.
I dealt directly with Geoff Hess and it was a very poor experience. I sent several rare watches directly to the auction house to be stored in their vault. Without authorization, Geoff took the watches home unsecured to his apartment.. when he called me he had said he had the watches Infront of him at home.. this was not authorized by me. He proceeded with a very poor attitude and spoke with great disrespect towards me. I quickly asked that he immediately return my goods to the auction house. I then asked one of the girls at the office to return the watches back to me. Some came back with scratches on the bracelet and or crystal that were not previously present. I am lucky I got them back at all. I ended up going with a competitor auction house who took very good care of me. Geoff doesn’t exactly have the best track record or reputation within the watch community.. which is why he probably isn’t even listed anymore on this companies team section on the website….
Love the set up of the auction house. The showroom is well-curated.
Modern Auction House. This is a great place to visit any time to see art and antiques for auction. Always new displays so I visit multiple times a year
I struggled to get a response from Phillips. I felt like I do from some of the other big name auction houses, in the sense that you are left in limbo without an email, a call, and the reality is your art may be real, but unless you are some big name dealer they treat you 3rd rate. Like all the other big auction houses. On the other hand the woman who answered Emma when I called was extremely nice, and helpful by reaching out to her specialists, and called me back to give me an update, and was extremely helpful. I got the email, undoubtedly the response I was not looking for. The struggle continues.....
Great 70's art exhibition. These pieces are by Linus Coraggio.
Amazing auction house/art gallery. They a large selection of Warhol's, a good few Basquiat, and rhe occasional Picasso. They have 3 hallery floors and host great private events.
It was Sunday afternoon. We were walking by n saw the poster. We walked in. Great experience wonderful art. Great way to spend an afternoon in NYC. THANK YOU!
My preferred auction house among the three known ones in NYC. Most importantly, the outstanding staff, great expertise, plus support for guests. Auctions are wonderful and exciting. I love every visit, to view the available art and also to speak with their staff. Thanks so much to all at Phillips
