A friend recommended this clinic because of some similar sets of issues we share, that this clinic was able to address for him. I called and left a message this morning to get set up, to see if they took my insurance, to see if they were accepting new patients. The voice mail told me to leave some specific info, which I attempted to do, but failed. The voice mail also told me they would call back within 24 hours. Within 10 minutes, they called me back, and didn't even mention that I had forgotten to leave some required info. In a matter of a minute or two, I had an initial appointment set up, with the person I was recommended to so, in what they said was a long wait, but in fact is only about two weeks away. It's also on my preferred day of the week. So far, I am extremely impressed at their speed, professionalism, and accommodation. Great job!
Horrible front staff! I had issues with the staff when I initially called in and asked for a supervisor to find out the services provided blood draw, scan, what do you do in-house. The lady told me at the appointment they will discuss it. Too late I need to know before I need to fast. Then when I showed up and the front desk lady had an attitude and was picking on my paperwork. She was not thorough on what exactly needed to existing, just told me signatures. Then I asked her to be more specific, the signature section is done and it's still prompting me to do something, what is needed? Her co worker jumped up and said I'm the supervisor, if you don't like it get out. I happy left and would advise strongly against going here unless you want to be degraded morally and verbally. I was referred by a few people and hear the doctors are supposed to be good...if you can make it past the unhappy front staff.
I thought after my first experience this clinic would be good, but I was wrong. They fail to followup, force you as the patient to call to get office work completed on your behalf, cancel appointments without informing the patient, and all in all have little to no respect for their patients care. The bill will show up quickly though. Increased my review some because the doctor is good. All issues seem to stem from the office.
I have been going to this clinic longer than I can remember. At least 15 years. I see Doug most of the time. I find that he is straight forward and happy to answer all of my questions regardless of how basic they may be. Some reviews complain about the wait. I haven't really been to a doctor that didn't have a wait and this clinic has rarely if ever made me wait too long. I would add that they spend the time you need as a patient and that is far more important to me than rushing through. I can only speak for my own experience but I think this place is great.
I would have given them 5 stars 3 months ago. I would give the staff 5 stars. I absolutely love my doctor Julie who gets to the root of an issue, is understanding and makes me feel comfortable. However, I give 3 stars currently due to the clinics new wait time issue. The last few times I have gone its averaging about 2 hours altogether. It's particularly tough since I work full time and have to leave my office to go to an appointment and today it took 3 hours before I was back in the office. I hope they resolve this new wait issue quickly because otherwise, they have a fantastic clinic!
I have been going to Phillips Clinic from 2007 to 2020. Doug is a great guy and very caring. The problems are always with the rudeness of the front office. Bigger problem is you have to go through the front office to make an appointment with Doug! After 13 ears of going to the same place and having the same insurance for the past 10 years, they are just now asking me for the address of Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Also at this time asking me how both my sets of grandparents died. After 13 years, you are asking me this? Also, I was made to pay for my Sept. 11 procedure without charging my insurance.
I used to love this clinic. I would come here, hassle free, every time I needed ear lavage. I paid, had the procedure, and left. Now, per the office manager, I suddenly need a doctor's referral. They don't take my insurance, which was fine. It wasn't that expensive anyway. Well, it becomes expensive when I have to pay for a doctor to tell me what I already know, from experience, what I need done. Kristen, from the front desk was so sweet and helpful, but I will never go back again. I came to this clinic, because they weren't like everywhere else, taking people's money, by overcharging, so a doctor can look in my ear and tell me what I already know, and what the nurse used to do with the price of the procedure. I'm very disappointed and angry.
I love Phillips Clinic...for dozens of reasons. I've been a patient for 25+ years. I've seen all of the doctors at the clinic and they are all caring, comforting and take time for you. These doctors take the time to be sure you understand and explain. I have to say to the women, Dr. Julie does the best paps ever ... she's quick, gentle and you barely know she was in there!!!! I appreciate that the staff does their level best to get me and my family in as quickly as possible if I am concerned about something. I also love that Phillips Clinic is open on Saturdays! My husband and I have been going to this clinic for about three years, I can tell you with all honesty that they are not a very good clinic. Let's start with communication. Phone experiences have been horrible. Need to cancel an appointment, follow-up on a referral that was never sent they do that often, or even talk to a person? Forget it.... They do not answer or return calls. I am surprised when I actually do get a person on the phone. It can take me a week to make an appointment. Their patient portal doesn't have any real information on it, but it is the only way I can make an appointment. Make sure you can go, if you can't cancel because they won't pick up the phone then you will be charged $225 for a no-show visit. Now for the actual appointment. Prepare to wait! I don't think there was a time that I was in and out in under two hours. Usually, you will wait in the lobby for about 45 mins after your scheduled time and then in the exam room for another 30-45 mins on average. Oh, and your time is not valuable to them, but the doctor's is. If you actually take the doctor's allotted time for you not just the 5 mins they usually give you, they will charge you for an extended visit. So basically, you wait for over 2 hours and it's okay, but the doctor spends 15 minutes with you and he charges $700 for an extended visit. If they order blood, they will make a separate appointment for that. DO NOT DO IT.... Get a referral for Quest or whatever lab of your choice. Their appointments are not convenient or soon and they are not good at blood draws. If they want you to do any specialized tests at their clinic.... don't. I had an ultrasound on my heart done there and they found something weird. I had a follow-up with the Cardiologist and had the test re-done. It was all clear. Scared me for no reason. I have more examples of that, I won't go into detail. Billing..... WOW! Make sure that you check every line of their invoices. Compare it to your insurance's explanation of benefits EOB. I have not received one correct bill. They will send you an invoice saying they charged you for two procedural codes, but they actually sent your insurance company three codes. They have not applied insurance payments to the right charges. I am not sure how they are still running to be honest. I used to work for a family clinic in Utah and I taught billing and coding. I know what an invoice should look like and include. Phillip's Clinic is not doing it correctly. In February, I went for a physical and during the visit I was asked about my medical history. Part of my history is that I was diagnosed with a mental health problem. I informed the doctor that I am being treated somewhere else for the problem and I did not need any help from him with it. Well...guess what....they billed my insurance for a physical AND a mental health visit. When I contacted Phillips Clinic, I was told that if the doctor mentions anything about mental health then they bill for it. Even though we did not actually discuss any details of me being Bipolar, they still billed for it because we "mentioned" it. STAY AWAY!!!! I've even sent a fraud complaint to my insurance company and put a complaint in with BBB.
Dr.s and staff are nice and we really like them. If you're looking for a medical clinic that respects your time, this is not the place for you. The wait is crazy. If you have an appointment, plan on waiting an hour or more past your appointment time. Doesn't mean you won't get in only a half hour late, just be prepared.
