Pho 79 Bar and Grill

I am a former employee at this establishment. I can say that the food is decent for the price, but the service leaves more to be desired. Although, the employees are friendly and helpful, they are not well trained nor do they last long in their positions. The management makes sure to keep them down by withholding salary, wages and other funds for disobedience. Same same, Vietnam. Employees with experience in service would avoid this establishment, but the kitchen staff is roughly the same as when I worked there over two and a half years ago. It's hard to replace essential workers, but superficial faces are replaced often. This company is likely committing numerous labor violations according to federal and state law. However, few employees know the law, nor do they know that there are even laws that would protect them against such violations. I have a pending labor claim against Pho79 and its affiliates, for the amount of $3000. I worked 12 weeks in total. 5 days per week. Two shifts per day. 5 hours per shift. At $7.25/hour. I took two days off for illness. That is approximately $4350 of gross wage that should have been paid without consideration for overtime. I was actually paid around $1350. Or approximately 186 hours of labor at $7.25 federal minimum wage. There are 414 hours of wage missing from the rolls. Which is $3001.50 in stolen wages. That is approximately $2.25/hour that I was paid under the table in cash in unmarked envelopes. Same same, Vietnam. I was never paid for overtime, though I was the first person in the door and the last one out, and also worked 50hrs per week. According to Virginia Law, the over time rate is one and a half times salary. At that rate, I am owed an extra $435 for time worked without payment. But, I'm willing of course to compromise on overtime. That's fair right? This business is extremely profitable and popular. The management thinks that they're invincible. They believe that someone won't speak out against their thieving. They shouldn't have messed with a Math major...

The food was good but the service was terrible. I waited a few minutes for someone to seat me (I was by myself and no one was in front of me). I placed my order and a couple came sat nearby about 10 minutes after I ordered. Their appetizer came almost immediately and I noticed it was the same one that I ordered. I told my waiter and he said “let me go check.” I then asked the other server who stated that it was in fact my order and that I would get the one that was cooking at that time. I declined. He didn’t offer an apology or anything. My meal was eventually delivered to my table but no one ever returned, not even to refill my water. I had to walk to the counter to pay in order to receive my check. Customer service is almost as important as tasty food.

This place isn't bad. Not my favorite pho place ever, but definitely best in the area. The broth and noodles are good, but the meat isn't high grade. Also the appetizers are good. I love all of them.

Not only was this place beyond delicious, but the staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. We got pho 6 and my 2 1/2 year old loves it. Please try this place!

I had diarrhea after eating from this place. My second time eating this place. Never in my life have I seen really poor customer service. You walk in and a sign says Please wait to be seated That took a whole 2 to 3 minutes for a waitress to give me a seat After I took a seat they gave me the menu and I ordered a beef bowl. Now a guy did ask me What would you like to drink. But my drink did not show up until my food came. I'm sure most people expect their food to come within 10 minutes right? I waited nearly 20 minutes for my food to come. I had to even ask them for it. After I was done eating I asked for a check This young lady that was suppose to give me a check freaking ignored me and walk away to another customer and to the back and around. I walked up to the cashier and pay my bill and go. My whole time within the restaurant was 30 to 35 minutes. Its insane how you don't get your drink after you sit down and you still have to ask for your food to show up, plus asking for a check and have this waitress ignoring you. The whole time I was on my phone texting and trying to relax and enjoy a meal. It turned out to be a disaster.
