Excellent!!! We had the jerk chicken brown chicken platters, rice & peas with steamed veggies. They were hot, moist and well-seasoned. Best I’ve had from a restaurant outside of family. The beef and spinach patties of course with coco bread were absolutely on POINT!!
I ordered goat it was dry. A plate full of rice and bones. No flavor just spicy; meat was mushy. I'm not impressed. If you look, I posted two pictures to show there was rice for two people with no gravy or meat. There is a much better spot on North Capital.
Too salty. I ordered currently goat. This was my go to spot before the covid. Now when you walk in they don't say hello and the food bad. Please get it together. The rice and peas are still good.
I saw this place riding by one day & saw it had good reviews. So I saved it for later. Well later came & I had to walk-in and order because they stopped answering the phones an hour before closing. I got there before closing but apparently too close to closing because things were sold out by the end of the night. I was rushed to place my order & pushed to the side quickly, so I had to get in line twice to place another order. I didn’t complain because I thought it would be worth it. Got to my destination and my oxtail platter was not good at all. The greens were too mushy & soft, the oxtails were not flavorful and the meat wasn’t tender. The curry chicken was mediocre and barely had flavor. I don’t know what people are eating from here but it doesn’t give me true Jamaican food because the flavor is off. I eat Caribbean food regularly. I’m a lover of oxtails and although the taste may vary from restaurant to restaurant, the food from here was not tasty at all. I wish I had saved my money & time!
Brown Stew Chicken, Vegetable Stew, Rice and Peas. The flavor is there the food is good. Thus far the best Caribbean food in the DMV. The stew chicken moist and tender. The shrimp roti is greatnot pictured it’s my second time getting that meal. And the cucumber ginger drink is extremely refreshing. Every time I’m in this area I will be eating there.
This place is beautiful with a Caribbean vibe. The people are very friendly and the food is amazing. I had the oxtails and my fiancée had the chicken Rasta pasta. Both dishes were great.
Really amazing Caribbean food. I had the oxtail and the chicken curry with cabbage and collard greens. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I also had the cucumber ginger drink and it was not to sweet with a kick of ginger. Everyone was really nice and food came quickly for how many people were in line.
I ordered the vegetable rasta pasta & a side of oxtail since they don't offer that combination. The food tasted good. The oxtail was tender and falling off the bone & the pasta had a little kick to it. It was a bit pricey for a side of oxtail$13...I couldve just ordered a oxtail entree for that price but I was really in the mood for pasta. There's not much parking so order ahead. The wait wasn't too long but there was a line. They aren't on any food delivery services yet which sucks but ill definitely will be coming back. My only issue was that the salad they put on the side of my plate had no dressing on it. Should've just asked for a couple more scoops of pasta.
The Fake out Often with Jamaican & Caribbean spots their Ox Tail meals are a hit or miss so I wasn’t surprised. I basically paid $18.00 + for a side of rice & peas and cabbage because that was not an Ox Tail Dinner. Dinner plate seemed oddly heavy but there was no meat, had big huge pieces of nothing but BONE and mostly FAT. The gravy sauce is very dark, thick consistency and it coats the meat and rice so you really can’t see your meat portions until you start to bite into it. Had my heart set on some good tender, flavorful & meaty Ox Tails. Such a disappointment! But on the up side, my daughter liked her Chicken Rasta Pasta.
The jerk chicken was salty and extremely spicy. The oxtail didn’t have any meat on them, so basically they gave me a big plate of rice and cabbage. The staff was very rude and unorganized, and I have no plans of returning ever again.
