The food came relatively quickly and tasted good. However the images would have you believe there was seating to dine in. There were no seats that you could eat on the bar counter tops. Other than standing to eat at the counters the food was not bad. It seems more of a to go place. The beef and lamb were good and flavorful not dry or too oily. The cauliflower side was really good. Very filling. The spinach pie was also different then others for the doughy texture but it wasn't bad at all.
Today a friend and I tried Pita Press for the first time. I am no expert on Greek food by any means so this is just the opinion of someone who loves food! The staff was super friendly and kind. They took the time to explain some of the differences in the chicken dishes. I had the chicken souvlaki plate with the home cut fries. The chicken portion could have been a bit more generous 4-chunks but had the nice flavors from the grill. The fries were clearly handcut by the variety of shapes and we're good. The salad was my least favorite part and was a bit soggy. It was a bit pricey but def comparable to other lunch prices in the area. We will def be back though! Overall it was a winner!
Pita press is close to vacationing on a Greek island eating that nice juicy meat, or their gyros. I am glad its in the neighborhood. They food is very authentic, great flavors, lots of greens and proteins. Has option for vegans as well. I love their prasini salad with some grilled chicken souvlaki. It the perfect portion and size. Ive also order their family meals, and wow i had leftover for the next day. Portion feeds 4 people. Highly recommend this spot for takeout, when your fridge is low. Quality of food is on point! Update 12/22/21 i needed something that would give me energy and keep my tummy warm. I had the Greek fish soup. It was tasty, flavorful, and just the right amount. 5/5.
Their food is really delicious! We've tried the chicken and beef kebabs and I highly recommend it both!Food: 5/5
Delicious Greek food that feels like home cooked meals. We got the cod pita and vegetarian pita along with Greek Fries, favs beans, and cauliflower sides. All were super yummy and would recommend. I look forward to trying the smoothies and other items
This place saves me a trip to Astoria! Authentic dishes and on point flavors. Love that they have biftek for when I need a protein fix without lambie. Health hack: it’s all the flavor of a burger without the extra carbs of a bun, fat of cheese and bacon and sauces. Have gotten takeout twice since NY pause, both times food was hot and flavorful. Would like to try salad with biftek but Ritual app doesn’t give that option. Nice bench area next door to rest or eat your pita. I took mine home so I could add my extra sauces and herbs.
I ordered takeout and I ordered half rotisserie chicken with salad and hand cut fries comes with pita bread. Value: it will will feel you up but you'll pay least $11. Taste: Great taste and soft to your taste buds. It's not too salty or too bland just right. Portion size: Above average Staff: Helpful and friendly Location: Somewhat hidden. It can be tempting to go to Chipotle, Roti or Dos Toros. I will definitely return for more.
Pretty terrible place. Last 2 times I got an absolutely not edible soggy salad. I just ended up eating only meat. It used to be my favorite spot.
Quality Greek food. Wish they would give more napkins to you with your gyro sandwiches. Lamb gyro was my favorite
I have been a customer for more than one year. I like the food, there are some vegetarian options. We usually order to home. Each time we make an order, we put a comment "no plastic cutlery" - we simply don't use it. But nobody reeds comments! look at the picture I've included - that much plastic from only ONE order! it is terrible! Twice I collected plastic cutlery and returned full paper bag of cutlery to the restaurant. They accepted it and assured me that my concern of wasted unnecessary plastic will be addressed. Nothing has changed since then. Now I am thinking to stop order anything from Pita Press because they are not environmentally minded service and don't read customers comments. Please stop include plastic cutlery if customers ask to do so!
