This Indian inspired cuisine is a must try for food lovers. Colorful and tasty food. Very different but with a tinge of known feeling. The quantities were really really good. I mean one meal can be eaten by two peoplealmost. The ambience is good too. The prices are reasonable. They experimented south Indian traditional food with a twist and it is a success I feel. Try their drinks, they’re are different and adventurous a bit. Hard to find a good quality Indian authentic restaurant in downtown nyc and this is a gem.
Plus points for the lovely ambience, and the spacious feel, and the attentive service. The dishes were a hit or miss. The snack on the table to start with is a good, but some dishes like the pav bhaji and samosa were inexplicably hot too much chili. The nan were thin, and cold, and turned into papad by the time we got them. The lamb chops and fish dishes were good, as well as the saag paneer. We enjoyed the mocktails, which were 50% off on wed. The restaurant is a good way to try some fusion indian.
We made reservations for 8 pm on a Friday night, and this place was packed when we arrived! Our hostess told us that their service was running with a 15-minute delay and we were given our table within that time. The restaurant set up is pretty good, nice bright lights, good decor and good music. For appetizers, we got Desi Fries with Keema, Madras Chicken Wings and Chili lettuce wraps. Desi fries were the best among all, followed by Chili lettuce wraps, which had a nice spicy kick to it. The Madras chicken wings was forgettable & at $15, they could've at least served 8 pieces. They served only 4. For main course, we got 3 curries which included goa pork curry, chicken 25 and gunpowder lamb fry. Their chicken curry was absolutely delicious. Packed with a lot of flavor and chicken was extremely well cooked. Goa pork curry was the next best delicious dish and spice level on both was perfect. The lamb curry was absolutely terrible and I would not recommend it at all. Did not have any taste and the meat wasn't cooked good at all. We also got a bottle of their gabaxo rioja and the last 2 glasses had cork remains in it.. left a very unpleasant finish to the bottle. Service was good and our waitress was warm, welcoming and attentive. The booth that we were seated in was very comfortable too, with the exception of a damn restroom door behind us, which wouldn't close because the restaurant doesn't seem to have time to fix it, which had cool drift of air continuously hitting us directly. It was really annoying to keep closing the door, every 5 mins and the restaurant staff did not seem to care that it was left open. Overall, it was an okay experience. Nothing spectacular, but for their delicious Chicken 25, which deserve a full 2 stars!
Went there for breakfast/brunch and it was one of our highlights of our NY trip! What a treat! The place is very nicely decorated, the atmosphere is cosy, classy and relaxed at the same time. The food was delicious, full of flavours. Indian food with a modern/American twist such as the peanut butter and nutella French toast. Indian families are privatising rooms there for private functions which is the only guarantee you need that the food is of great standard!
Delicious Indian food with a confident modern twist. The folks in the kitchen clearly know what they are doing, and consistently whip out dishes with strong traditional flavors, and meticulous presentation. The staff is warm and helpful. The delicious brunch is a welcome surprise, too!
Interesting fusion of Indian food. Do not expect authentic Indian food. Vishnu thali was good. We also ordered Saag Paneer and spinach roti which was really good. You must try the different ice creams and other Interesting deserts which is hard to find any where else. The decor and ambience is also good.
The place is big with beautiful ambience and best lot of servers! The quality of food is just so good. Texan thali was a little dry for my pallet but no regrets as the taste was pretty good. Chicken was very tender. Mithai pie is a decent portion to share btwn 2 ppl and tastes too good because of the Indian sweets put together very innovatively! Yummy in my tummy Will surely visit again and recommend to friends and family.
I visited here for lunch on Friday. It was somewhat empty when we first arrived around noon but the place filled up pretty quickly. I think the service could have been better since we weren't sure who was our waiter and it took them quite long to get our order and bring our checks. . I ordered chicken naanwich with desi fries. It was definitely a new kind of taste for me. The naanwich and fries were somewhat spicy. The fries were not as crispy as french fries, but still very flavorful.
As someone who eats at Indian restaurants in every country and state visited, I was delighted to discover this place near my new home. The food and flavors are spot on. Food is made to order. Amazing open space with open kitchen view. Menu is very creative and eclectic. You will find something for you no matter how picky you are with flavor spices and textures and diet. Perfect for a date night and family dinners. Have not had a chance to visit for lunch or breakfast! Eggplant steak was amazing. Whisky sour drink with tamarind was superb. If you're looking for traditional, colonial slop and mop Indian soul food, this may not scratch the itch. If you're seeing a culinary experience that delights not only your taste buds, but your intellect as well, then Chef Anita is who you want to meet and eat with :
A huge space overall..The entrance is like a separate coffeeshop area with the restaurant inside. Its very spacious and has a big bar to the right and an open kitchen to the left. Started off with the Black Pepper Chicken Samosa..quite bland and lacklustre..did not have the mild punch of pepper I was expecting and it came with yoghurt instead of green chutney, which was a bit weird. Went in for the Chicken 25 bowl with Turmeric Rice next..Good semi dry curry which wasn't too spicy with Turmeric Rice.I think the rice they use is from Kerala or Karnataka in Southern India as it has that carby, fat grains. The Turmeric seasoning was just right. The Parle-G enrobed dessert was good too. Given it was raining mad outside, the Jiva tea was refreshing and warming!
