I rarely give 5 stars but this place deserves them. Originally, my mats were not cut how I desired, I brought this to the attention of the store owner. She took one look at them and agreed with me that they needed to be redone. She told me she would have them on the table ASAP. Within a week I had my art back, the mats cut perfectly, she even put them perfectly back into their frames something that normally costs extra, I think. It is very apparent how much this owner cares for her customers and her art form. I would 100% go here again and encourage any readers to have their frames done here. You will receive the best service and an exceptional product.
My partner and I decided to use an upcoming move to a new house as an opportunity to repair and replace the aging and failing frames and cracked glass panes on the art on our walls. The staff at Portland Picture Frame were supremely professional, friendly, and eager to work with us to find solutions that fit our needs, aesthetic preferences and budget. They even wrapped and packed all of our artwork so that it was ready for moving and storage. I recommend them enthusiastically and without hesitation, and they're the only store I trust with our most beloved artwork.
Worst, most unpleasant customer service I've ever experienced. I believe that the short-haired womanwith the cigarette odored, unpleasant demeanor who waited on me throughout all this is the store owner. It took her over 2 months to finish my simple framing job after I was told it would take 2-3 weeks. When no one called me after 3 weeks, I called them to find out if it was ready for pickupit wasn't. I waited 2 more weeks and stopped by the store to see if it was doneit wasn't. She said the mat I had chosen had been discontinued so she had to order it from somewhere else. Fine, but a courtesy call telling me about another delay would have been nice. As I was leaving the store that day, I asked if she would call me when it was done. She said she would call. When she didn't call after another few weeks passed, I stopped by the store again. The same woman told me it wasn't done yet and then asked "Do you have 15 minutes?". I asked, "For what?". She said "So I can finish it". Unbelievable!! It was all I could do to hold back my anger and disbelief. At that point,, all I wanted was my artwork back from this person. I waited 15 minutes, took my completed picture home and vowed to never go near this store or person again. I'd leave negative ZERO stars but Google doesn't offer a negative stars option.
Bizarre experience. We came into the store today Saturday at 4PM and the shop was open, but no one was at the counter. We waited for about five minutes and rang the door bells, but no one appeared. When we looked behind the back room curtain, a short-haired woman was sleeping on the table. We knocked on the wall twice and shouted “hello” but she didn’t wake up. Looked like she was completely out of it. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving our pictures here and trusting them for framing after this. Hoping she gets help she needs or at least enough sleep—just ideally not during business hours and on a table. She was definitely breathing but nonresponsive to our attempts to wake her.
Portland Frame is a wonderful shop!! I discovered it a few years ago when I was looking for someone to frame an autographed football jersey. They were more than happy to handle my request. I wasn't really sure what kind of color scheme I wanted, but the owner of the shop made a few suggestions, and after showing me some samples we had a frame picked out. It was finished a few days later and has been the focal point of my "man cave" ever since. Since then I've recommended Portland Frame to numerous friends. It's so nice to know that there are still a few locally owned quality businesses left in the Portland area.
I had a challenging nautical chart framed for hanging outside and the owner of the shop was extremely helpful.
Id guess that Ive had around 100 pieces framed here dating from 2010 until now. From custom frames to standard metal frames. This is the only frame shop i consider using in Portland. Always curtious and professional. Completely recommended.
I use Portland Picture Frame for all of my framing needs. They make beautiful custom frames for home pieces and sleek professional frames for the art I present in show settings. Terre and Stephanie provide excellent feedback, as artists themselves, they have a great eye for design. The shop being locally owned is a huge plus! They also offer a student discount for framing!
I've been getting my art framed here for almost a decade now. Terre and her staff have been in the framing business for over 25 years. They're experts and it shows in their attention to detail. That expertise doesn't come cheap. Make sure you come in with the right expectations as custom framing can be expensive, especially for larger pieces.
Service is always great. Can't beat the quality here either, they really know what they are doing. I have had 2 large maps framed here and am very pleased with the results. I plan to take all my framing needs here in the future. Also, the owner has a great eye for the right frame to enhance your framing needs. Our maps look beautiful!
