This event is getting ridiculously expensive. They've taken away unlimited ride options, so you need to budget $100 a kid just for the rides. This year, the ground was so marshy and it was hard to walk around.
Update: 2022; had a blast Good fun timez
You'd assume, such big local festival would become better in time, it's gone from awesome and fun,and simple, free music, bring some canned goods and your in, 20$ family of 3 had a good time, couple rides, music, cotton candy, elephant ears. But in the last 5yrs,now that I'm trying to take my own children, it's not possible financially. It's changed so much, and not the better. Guess if I had 100$ to blow on 1 evening w the kids, it'd be fun family event for us, but we've got 100$ for our grocery's a wk if that. To me, this is a real bummer, ide hoped to keep our family tradition going on with my own children, but its not even a reality for us :
My family and I drove in specifically to see the animals at" Walk on the Wild side ". We were impressed at how well the animals are treated and the educational information provided by the professional well informed handlers. It is important that the public become aware our wild animals. It is very important that these animals be seen as sentient beings and not just fur coats or trophies.... Well done Walk on the Wild Side! Keep up the good work! :
They used to have free music on two stages now you have to pay to see concerts, and the booths were horrible, just a bunch of airlines and travel and insurance people trying to sign ya up, also, I saw .maybe 3 booths besides food that you could purchase merchandise. The parades are the only good things left! The rides were vast, too spendy for me. If the prices went down for rides theyd have alot more people come. My husband and I paid 56.00 for dinner!!! I just dont feel it anymore. Sad P.S. NO PHOTO BOOTHS!?!? UGH! I hope this meets the eyes of the sales and marketing team!
An amazing organization which handles of the Portland Rose Festival parade, and many other venues year-round in the Portland area. They are a charitable organization as well, and our city would be much less special, without their existence and participation. Cheers!
The top notch Civic event to showcase Portland. From the fleet visit to the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade to the Starlight fiotrace through downtown and dozens of other smaller events each one is well produced and well thought out to showcase a thing or event that makes Portland unique. Don't miss it even if you've lived in Portland all your life.
I tried to attend a concert at the festival and all I could smell was weed and even caught a couple people physically doing it. security was not willing to do anything at all. There were several kids in the area also.
Well organized. Well staffed. Fun for the whole family and a great annual activity to go to. Lots to do. Friendly employees. Food, culture, activity for all ages.
Fantastic! Got to see the Starlight Parade for the first time in yrs. took the Max .... Ugh big delay of 25-30 mins stopped & full of ppl downtown trying to get back home, so plan ahead for delays!
