President Lincoln's Cottage

President Lincoln's cottage is one of the most amazing and overlooked historical sites on the Eastern seaboard. If you have the time to take one of the guided tours of the cottage and surrounding grounds then you will have a truly and lightning and thoughtful day. The cottage also has a gift shop that is humanely sourced and is staffed by some of the most wonderful and kind people I have ever met.

Great tour and engaging hosts. Take a journey through time as you stood where Lincoln stood while hosting guests and peer through the window as he did when writing the Emancipation Proclamation. You'll learn quite a bit of history and exchange ideas with other people. Not a lot of walking and suitable for children. Definitely add it your places top visit in DC.

Very good museum and interpretive guide. Need to furnish home with period furniture as Mr. Lincoln would have seen it.

This is truly a piece of American history. This is were Lincoln spent approximately 25% symbol of his time while he was president. Spent a great deal of time here during the summer months. This is where he wrote the main piece of the Emancipation Proclamation. The one hour tour begins with a brief orientation followed by a tour of the actual cottage where Oncoln lived. . It is pretty impressive to walk up the stairs and put your hand on the railing where Lincoln did the exact same thing. If you come here on the metro, it was a very nice .9 miles walk from the closest Metro station, which is on the green/yellow line.
