I have never been so disappointed in a nail salon as I was in Q West. I went to the salon to get chrome gel nails and a pedicure yesterday. First let me say that despite the fact that they use a bowl liner for pedicures, the rest of the place is so dirty that it negates that small gesture toward sanitation. I was already ankle deep in water when I noticed the floor looked like it has NEVER been mopped. The walls, nail tables, etc are also NASTY! They reused a for scrubber from a previous client without sanitizing it. Hello athlete's foot or MRSA! They did a good job scrubbing my feet, but being forced to walk across filthy floors in those disposables flip flops literally made my skin crawl. Then... my chrome gel experience. The woman seemed to make up the process as she went. One finger at a time--polished and then under the lamp. The powder was put on after 7 layers of a base coat etc. The nails felt stickier than usual when I left. By the next morning, i had lint, hair etc sticking to them plus smudges on every finger and the black base coat was showing at every nail edge. I went back today to have they correct them. The same nail tech did a completely different process one day later....????...!!!!! This time she put the red powder on after 3-4 layers of the base coat and 2 layers of the clear top coat. I incredulously asked if she thought the red powder would get over my clothing and furniture... her remedy? Another top coat on top of it, then more powder then more clear coat. When she was done, i had 12 layers of polish and it did NOT look like chrome!!! What did I pay extra for chrome for????!!!! My nails look like a 4 year old did them! The manager's solution to my complaint???"i will check into it." No offer of a refund or ANYTHING!!!Just 4 hours of my life down the drain. I will need to wear gloves until I can pay someone to remove this sticky, smudgy, non- chrome BS. Q-WEST, you do not train your workers on new processes by using customers as the guinea pigs. I basically paid money so that your workers, could experiment with chrome nails. What did I get out of this?!
I will literally never come here again. The owner of this shop did my full set and it looks atrocious. The acrylic is super lumpy and looks sloppy, the shape and length are inconsistent, a few nails are crooked, nail beds look awful, and on top of all of that she was incredibly rude to me. While she was applying the acrylic, I let her know that it was a little too thick for my liking and asked if she could make it thinner and she responded, "No, it's supposed to be this thick." and carried on. At the end, I politely asked if she would reshape one nail because it was clearly crooked and she was so irritated that she refused to speak to me for the rest of my visit. I caught her glaring at me from across the room as I paid and left. This is only the second time I've been here. My first visit was actually great, one of the nail techs did my acrylic set and it looked great. However, after this experience, Q West Nail is a huge no from me.
I've been to Q-West a number of times over the past few years and normally have a good experience. During my last visit, my nail tech grabbed a box of tools with a pair of dirty gloves on top. I thought it was odd, but trusted the tools were clean since I hadn't had a bad experience before at this nail salon. Before each tool was used, the nail tech put some acetone on it at the table and wiped it off with the towel, which I realized is how they were "disinfecting" the tools from prior use. It was gross and unprofessional. Also disappointing because they normally do a good job, but after that experience I won't be going back.
I went on 1/14/2018 to get my normal pedicure, and like always, I’m asked if I want the Spa treatment, and I always say no. When I went to pay, I was told it was $33, and I asked when the price went up from $28? I’d only been there 4 weeks before, so was curious. The employee said I had my nails buffed. I stated that it was always included for $28. She back tracked her words a couple of times, and said I was right. I could see that she was trying to charge more. Needless to say, no tip, and I won’t go back. I was not happy about the lying. Not a good way to deal with a customer of many years.
This place is awesome. I’ve been going to mail places for decades I am very old ; I have seen a lot ; this is the best place I’ve ever been to. Everyone here so polite so customer oriented; so dedicated to their profession ; it’s the best manicure and pedicure I’ve ever had. I’m a regular and feel so good after I’ve been . For the life of me I can’t understand why anybody would think otherwise.
I've been coming here since 2005 and I'm not coming back after the last time. Management changed a couple of years ago. Even though she knows I take the train to Baltimore, the new manager lies about how long something will take or pull a girl from the middle of my manicure to have her give someone else a pedi. I'm done missing trains because of them. Zero respect for a woman's time in there.
Q-West recently changed hands after a long time with same owners. I’ll admit that The transition was a bit bumpy at first but they have now hit their stride. It’s a welcoming place and I’ve only always gotten good service. I always recommend it to my friends. A good steady place in the neighborhood.
I live in the neighborhood and made the mistake of getting a 60 minute massage here. I called earlier in the day and scheduled the appointment for later that afternoon. When I arrived at my scheduled time, the greeter who appeared to be around 15 years old informed me that the massage therapist was giving someone else a massage. Apparently she messed up the scheduling but did not have the courtesy to explain or apologize. Despite this, I waited for 20 minutes and then had one of the worst massages ever. The doughnut hole on the massage table was not at all comfortable. The actual massage was not pleasant... at one point after she kept massaging my ears which I did not particularly like I asked her to please work on the back. I will not be returning here.
I used to live right next to this spot, and since moving to another area in DC, I haven't been able to find an equal to this place in terms of price and quality. They consistently do a good job.
I really enjoyed my experience at Q West Nails. The staff was very friendly, and I left with perfectly pedicured toes!
