I like this credit union. My old credit union was absorbed into this one and there have been no problems. I no longer live in Hawaii and the credit union has always been able to handle that. Better than a bank.

I became a member of this credit union as they took over my credit union. My credit union was 5+* this credit union is -5 *. Almost every time I deal with something they mess up or don’t know..including the time they put in $600 by mistake then a while later days they sent me an email about the mistake and immediately took the money...which caused - issues because I thought it was my $. No call...I think I never got a sorry...this is the worst FCU/bank I’ve ever dealt with in over 45 years!!
I've been a customer for a over 20 years now. Staff is always friendly and courteous. Not a huge bank with the 1-800 service numbers to call and all the prompts, just local numbers with local service. Fast, friendly, and on Hawaii time. Rates and services competitive, just the bank for me.
Absolutely the best loan rates in Hawaii. Also super fast process during the new account opening and getting the loan. It took less than an hour from the moment I walked in until I had the loan check and the new account , with online loan application done an hour before that. I highly recommend HCFCU! Very friendly staff as well!
Phone Etiquette is very poor. Especially from someone who answers the phone by saying "hello" multiple of times instead of starting with an introduction with EACH call being picked up. Employees, New/Old need to be retrained on how to better handle situations and services better instead of transferring calls to different employees. Some employees esp. "Melissa" needs to learn what the member is asking for and how she could be of service instead of cutting the member off by transferring it to someone else. That is VERY irritating. Ever since Queens merged with Hawaii Central, things have been going downhill. I thought things would have been better especially more shared branching locations but it is ALWAYS hard to get the help and service that you deserve. Isabella is the branch Manager she made the situation a smooth sail especially the way she speaks and handles situations, they're very LUCKY to have her. Other than that, when I do go out mid morning to get a bite to eat or online shopping MOST times my card gets declined because their servers are always UPDATING... which is really ridiculous. All these problems NEED to be fixed.
Been a customer since 1979, needed to update accounts, Genie was very wonderful, did all the paperwork, was fast and efficient. I was done with my banking within 30 minutes. Continue to be loyal customer.
I appreciate the quick in&out service that this Credit union has always provided. And their staff are personable&caring!
Poor Customer Service, telephone service is poor service, especially in making making payments, transfer, loan payments, etc. Using the automated service calls on the telephone top systems, spend too much time before you can proceeds to the main menu. Please improve your voice automated to simple message.
Good things never over draft no fees. Being closed on weekends annoying. Also alot of trouble getting money on time direct deposit releasing of funds. Some staff absolutely fantastic , others....ehh. still needs alot of work but better than alot of banks here !
