Visited 3/5/2022 Approachable elegance. Limited seating so best to make a reservation. Only 2 tables allow for parties of 6, only 2 more 4-tops, the rest are all 2-tops. 3 spaces outdoor, with blankets and heaters, well covered with wind shields. Bar looks like it seats 6, for now. Ordered the wild mushroom hash, coffee, and a la carte biscuit with fruit compote. Splendid flavor profiles; foodie joint for the win. Portions are on the small side, hence an addition to my entree. Well seasoned, perfectly cooked egg/potatos. Coffee was excellent as well; medium roast, fresh, and from Happy Cup. Housemade biscuit was very crispy on the outside, and slightly more dense, then flaky. Notes of cinnamon and nutmeg rose from the housemade berry compote, which was delightfully only semi-sweet. Prices are farm to table: the above was $31 after a 25% tip. From the back corner, was able to watch the kitchen counter waltz, and observed house pickled veggies, a regular procession of deviled eggs and oysters, and the cocktails are definately "trendy" standard. Potato latkes and bacon were more done than I would have preferred, but, they weren't for me, so, who knows. Service is "relaxed" but attentive. Coffee took a few extra mins to arrive, as did the biscuit later, and there was an array of food that sat up at the counter for longer than my OCD nature was comfortable. Staff was very friendly, and clearly all work well together. They stated bar seating wasn't open, when I arrived, but, later saw two regulars perched and ordering. This Mississippi gem could use the business, so, it's hardly an issue. Estimated 30 mins, for single seat, and they were right on target. Fantastic brunch date spot, ladies only, or, if you want to inspire your pallette with a morning selection. Overall, highly reccommend.
Such an amazing spot for brunch with minimal effort to get a seat. The food was amazing. I had the braised brisket and cornmeal pancakes, wife had the mushroom and squash hash. Also had a raspberry clafoutis must get btw and everything was so good. Serving bottomless Heart Roaster coffee was also great. Our sever was the best, answering all of our questions and making recommendations. She never steered us wrong. Will be back for sure!!!
I had only been here one time before for brunch pre-covid and finally made it back. I loved it then and loved it again today. I had the smoked pork with grits, and it was very yummy and the perfect size not overkill/oversized portions. The menu isn't overloaded with options, which I like as they still have a lot of great things to choose from. My friends had the frittata of the day and the mushroom and squash hash and everyone was very happy. Staff were lovely! Definitely want to come back for dinner soon.
Good brunch, they do not skimp out on the portions. I had the smoked pork shoulder grits and it was a perfect meat to grits ratio.
Really quite yummy, and steak AND eggs for less than $20 that doesn't taste like you lost a bet. Very, very taaty, will definitely be back for more. Dinner was so tasty, so sorry to see you go. My best wishes to the entire team on their future endeavours.
Small and exquisite bistro vibes. Each dish had a flair for something just a little different. For example, the house pickles included mushrooms which were wonderful... had never had a pickled mushroom before. Also tried the salmon skin chicharrones.... totally unique. Another first. Amazing cocktails without going too far into fantasy ingredients. But still unique. Great service. Two thumbs up.
Our party of 3 had grits, brisket, braised greens, quiche, sausage, AND Jump Off drink. And a Bloody Mary. All were thoroughly enjoyed by ALL. Grits were the bestest. Brisket next. Jump Off sublime. Chuck Berry album was playing. Fantastic!
Alright, the food here, amazing. Really really good. Scotch egg, baked eggs, it's fantastic. The hits come in the following forms. - Way cramped. Very small space through the main dining area. - A little bit of bait and switch. I'm not sure what happened but my bill was way out of what was expected. For example, the menu at the table listed the Scotch Egg at $6.00, but the bill had it at $10.00. A search of their online menu showed we were paying the "brunch" price, which is fine, but we didn't know up front. - Super expensive weird menu items. How was a biscuit, A BISCUIT!, $5.50 on my bill? It was a small 2" biscuit. Like wow. The take away. Great food, but be mindful of what you're ordering or you might feel ripped off.
The food was amazing, as are the drinks. I would be very happy to get my hands on some of their bacon right now. I can't stop recommending it to friends who are traveling to Portland.
Located in the ever popular Mississippi neighborhood, Radar is a fun spot that teeters between trying to appeal to the masses and striving for a higher level of sophistication. Although the food and drinks are very good, perhaps they would be better served if they’d focus and find their true niche. Fun happy hour spot. B/B+
