The Tofu Okonomiyaki was delicious. The ramen noodles were a little on the al dente end, which I like as well. The cold ramen Lime Hiyashi Chuka was refreshing. The yuzi zest made the soup a little bitter.
I realize that people mostly come here for Ramen, I haven't tried it yet, but visited this place twice and ordered some appetizers that did not disappoint. The prices are just funny, and you can have a few appetizers and be full. My favorites are Hiroshi buns with any flavor, shishito peppers and kale mushroom salad - everything is very flavorful and just melts in your mouth. Beer on tap is just $3. The place is always busy and you're lucky to be seated during busy hours, better come here late afternoon. I highly recommend it!
Got the spicy tonkatsu, noodle al denté, broth spicy but not too chilly it kills your taste Bud chilly. Really nice. Got the crispy gyoza, should have gotten the Hitoshi Buns instead. My daughter got the black garlic ramen, it tasted really good too. Next time I’ll get that. Place is nice yet quiet, table a bit sticky I couldn’t rest my arms on it.
black garlic tonkotsu ramen The Ramen was great and at a standard price. The broths flavors where very melded in which very successfully seeped into the delicate thin noodles cooked al dente. My only itch is that the egg was nearly full boiled, I was sincerely hoping for that soft thick runny yolk. The black garlic profile surfaces in a delightfully subtle manner in which it gave the broth a rich base without overwhelming the overall composition of the flavors. Also the charchiu was exception, I'm a fan. The atmosphere was very chill, lights dimmed helps to create a cozy atmosphere. The server was neither rude nor exceptional, she did what she had to do without interjection in me and my friends conversations.
This is the best ramen I’ve had in NYC so far! Everything we ate was tasty, but the Vegan Tantanmen was one of the best things I’ve ever had. I usually don’t crave ramen, but I’ve been craving this dish since I had it! Cannot wait to visit again, would highly recommend if you’re in the area.
Ramen is very basic to be honest. This is a 18th ramen restaurant in NYC I’ve been to and this is 15/18. The best ramen is in Manhattan. The interior is nice and the stuff is great. But I didn’t feel any pleasure eating that ramen as I feel when I eat a really tasty ramen. The pork is bad. The broth is like been cooked only few hours and not 8-12 hours as it supposed to. The noodles were thin and feels like it was bought in a grocery store. Didn’t have menma as an extra topping. You could do better.
Stopped by on a cold rainy day. The ramen was so comforting and flavorful. The karage was so juicy and crunchy. The warm sake also made a very good pairing. The servers were very attentive and friendly.
Was not happy with this, the meat is dry and over cooked, the noodles never quite cooked in the broth and the eggs are overdone, mushrooms were not authentic and they barely added bean sprouts or spice. Not impressed. Photos look far better than what I received. It’s just not real ramen.
The waitress illegally tip 20% on my credit card!! I went to Setagaya St. Marks on February 16th 4pm, not this location. But I can’t review on Setagaya East Village on google so I post the review here. Sorry… The service was terrible and the ramen tasted like water. I didn’t tip you can see the picture of my receipt, but the waitress charged 20% of tip on my bank later. I'm gonna report to NYPD and dispute the illegally charged 20% tip.
The place looks great, art and decoration really brings this place together. The food is wonderful, I tried their black garlic miso noodles and buns; they are delicious while not being too heavy, overall they are a delightful experience. I also notice that they put in TWO halves of the SOY EGG in the bowl, this is a much welcomed rarity. Also, they give you TWO buns, this place is amazing for value. The only complaint I have is that the two tables I got are a little sticky when I got there. Also their desert menu wasn’t available. I got there at around late afternoon-ish on a Tuesday so it might not be the norm.
