Went to look at a property in the Petworth area upon entering the property I was met by a young guy who was showing the property I explained I had already applied for the property I was told 4 people have already applied and I would be in competition. I explained that I wasn’t worried I looked threw the house and before leaving was told the house wouldn’t pass inspection and that he would refund my application fee….I’m still waiting on the refund that was 13 days ago. They never answer the phone and because of that interaction alone I wouldn’t recommend anyone apply or look at any property that is listed by this company. Why would you list a house that wasn’t in condition to pass an inspection? People deserve to live in decent and habitable places voucher or no voucher.
Today I went to view a property located on 12th street NE. The home is beautiful, in a lovely cozy neighborhood in “Capitol Hill”. This home is exact what I was looking for because it is a few blocks from my 6-year-old school. First, as soon as I approached the property I can sense that stereotype and biases was going to take place. Before I can even reach the front porch the realtor immediately said “Oh, just to let you know, I showed the property “LAST NIGHT” and I already have 4 applicants who have applied. Now let me tell you what’s happening. By law… realtors can not deny individuals of a certain status to apply for a property of course. So they attempt to discourage you from applying. My question is why waste people time by allowing them to come view the property If you was already aware of this?? The viewing was for 5:30 pm. I don’t think that was the case at all. Here’s the problem; everyone who was coming to view the house was black woman with their children. I watched the looks of the home owners as well as the realtor. So I can pretty much see how it was going to go after I watch the first set of AA individuals walk out from viewing the house. This city has become saturated with biases. Especially when it comes to real estate. You are automatically stereotyped. I have been looking for a 3 bedroom for my 2 daughters and myself for 3 years now…. YES!!!! 3 years. impossible in this city. Gentrification is at an all time high. It’s unethical. Companies like this is only one of many.
I have been looking for a home for me and my daughters for a few months now and Johnny has been very helpful at each showing he is very patient and answer any questions I may have . Definetly recommend the district of your looking to rent
My roommates and I rented from a Rent the District property for two years. In that time we had a hot water heater go out, the A/C malfunctioned, and several other little things go wrong not our fault, I swear. Hanna and her team always helped resolve our issues, large or small, quickly and without issue. They communicate well and I felt they were always a quick email away. Also, payment was super easy and can be automated. The next time I am looking to rent a place in DC, my first action will be to reach out to Rent the District, to see if they have any properties open.
I've tried multiple times to email and call this company to see one of their listed rental properties, but still haven't been able to see the place. The phone system is all automated, and when I requested information about a specific property, it never sent it. I tried to schedule viewings online, but they never confirmed them. They finally sent an email with one time that I could see the property, which is in the middle of a work day. Additionally, they still haven't answered my email with two simple questions. If you're renting your place out with them and haven't been able to get it rented yet, this may be why. Update: The owner called me immediately after this post and explained that they were working with a new phone/scheduling system. She seemed genuinely concerned, and that level of personalized response speaks volumes about the company.
Been working with RTD for over 2 years and it has been a great partnership. Will adjust to your comfortable level of involvement in your property. Have used RTD while spending half the year out of town and half in town, and the experience has been great in both cases. Very responsive. No complains.
Very responsible and easy to get in touch with. Amazing service. Extremely competent, especially when problems arise. I can't imagine renting my property out without them.
Very professional, responsive, and helpful. Whenever I had a problem, they answered their phones no matter the time. Would absolutely rent from them again in the future.
Rent the District was professional and prompt in the lease development process, and has proven to be responsive to our needs when it comes to cleaning, repairs, and other issues that have come up with our rental. Thanks!
I had a visit with Mr. Johnny at 1417 Downing Street NE. He was very helpful and informative during my visit. Will certainly do business again.
