I’ve lived at a property managed by Scout for three years particularly John Thompson- who is just lovely and I’ve had a very positive experience throughout my time. They’ve always been very responsive and timely, and communicated through issues when something couldn’t be resolved immediately. They were always respectful of my time and property- and even great with my dog if they came when I was at work. I’ve always been pleased with any contractor they’ve hired as well. Overall, I’m really happy with my service through them and would be happy to continue to reside in one of their properties if I wasn’t purchasing my own home now.
Scout, and Jordan specifically, have been incredibly helpful and responsive in helping me navigate the DC rental market. They're good people to have on your side. I feel like Jordan got to know me and my situation, and really helped move things along. Would definitely recommend them over any of those much larger property management companies where you might not speak with the same person twice.
I’ve lived in a house managed by Ben Sanders for a year and a half. Every repair we’ve needed has been promptly responded to and quickly fixed. He’s friendly and we trust him to make communication smooth between us and the owners.
Jordan & Scout managed a condo for us for ~7 years. Prompt, professional, & practical. Would definitely hire again. An added plus: the periodic local market analysis they publish is both interesting & usable.
Do you want to live in a house where when you move out you have to pay for it to be fixed because your slum lord refuses to do any upgrades? Do you want to go several days without an operable shower because your landlord refuses to have it fixed when broken? If you want anything done you will have to threaten to withhold rent. Then look no further and rent from Scout Properties! I guarantee you will pay for water damage from a leaky roof that should have been replaced 3 years ago. You will also pay for a crack in the ceiling that had nothing to do with you but the structure of the house. You'll pay outrageous prices for the place to be repainted and for damages that were there when you moved in. You will also wait for almost two months for only part of your security deposit to be returned with charges like trash removal for trash that wasn't there when you moved out 2 months ago. Only move into a property managed by Scout if you want to have an absolutely miserable living experience and an even more miserable experience after moving out.
I rented an apartment managed by Scout Properties for the last two years. They were great to work with from the get go - easy to view the apartment, coordinate with the owners, sign the lease, and move in. As a tenant, they've been great to work with. They have an online portal that made it easy to pay bills, resolve repairs, or get questions answered. My property manager, John Kwamya, was quick to respond to any concerns and incredibly helpful when any problems came up. Highly recommend working with Scout Properties!
