I love my stay at the retreat so far! Jessica did an awesome job helping me finding the perfect apartment. She took me for a tour showed me 3 different models. Finalizing paper works, settling internet and electricity were also so easy with her assistance. The retreat is a beautiful gated community in a very quiet safe neighborhood. They respond to maintenance requests promptly and quickly. + they invite food trucks to the community which is a big plus! Since I visited this community it has been so hard for me to accept or look at other apartment communities.
I lived in these apartments for a year, and recently moved because I was looking for apartments closer to my job. I honestly had the best experience at RAMB. they are a little more expensive, but any time I had a maintenance request, they would fix it within a day. Office staff was always kind to me. the apartments were very spacious and i lived in the smallest level three bedroom. Only reasons I don’t still live here anymore is because of location and expense. These are great apartments.
I feel very unsafe in these apartments!!! I work nightshift and on multiple occasions I have had to make maintenance requests to have something fixed in my apartment. Well on the portal where you make those requests I simply mark “no” on “permission to enter” and then give a reason such as “I will be sleeping please call and make sure I am awake before coming in” I’m a 24 year old female here by myself during the day and on MULTIPLE occasions I have been woke up hearing men in my apartment. Well on February 10 I came home and saw a flier saying that someone will be coming in to do an inspection of the fire alarms on February 16. I worked that night so I would be sleeping during the day and requested a different day that would be convenient for both parties involved. I was originally rejected and told that it would be a $140 fee to have it rescheduled! That is completely unacceptable. I gave them plenty enough notice to request it be rescheduled. After further communication the leasing agent said she would have them reschedule at no charge. Well guess who got woke up YET AGAIN by men in my apartment? Yep. Not only in my apartment but one came INTO MY ROOM while I was sleeping. I made it aware to the leasing agent and all I got was a half hearted apology. I feel very unsafe and I feel this was handled very unprofessionally. I do not recommend these apartments and am so glad to get out of my lease. Which is also them ripping money out from under you. And I don’t even have time to write about that one right now.
Recently moved in and had a great experience. Angel and Ceanna were super helpful in getting me all set up. So far I’m loving it here. I feel it is worth the money especially compared to many other apartment complexes that charge about the same for way less space and amenities.
This place is amazing! I contacted them on a Thursday and moved in the following Monday. The apartments are very spacious and luxurious and the grounds are very well maintained. Big thanks to the RMB team and especially Ceanna Spisto! She went above and beyond to ensure that my move in process was stress free and quickly. Contact her if you want a terrific experience!
I originally posted a 2-star review based on our move out experience with an assistant manager, but after talking with Angel today, I feel confident giving The Retreat a better review. I do recommend seeing the actual unit you’re moving into before you sign the lease. They are older apartment buildings, and they do have water line issues from time to time. The good thing is they are very spacious. Not a lot of natural light, but that’s typical for the time in which they were built. The pools are awesome! That was one of my favorite things about living there. Plus, you can beat the price for the location. We have many memories from 3414, and besides the move out incident, we had a wonderful experience at The Retreat!
The amenities are wonderful, with access to the amazing pool and gym area as well as the on site dog park. This is a wonderful community to live in and is a fairly short driving distance to just about anything you could want to do in Birmingham. The leasing team is the highlight of this complex, and Mariah has been so helpful whenever we needed her.
Convenient location, amazing staff & great amenities. I’ve loved living here. The gym facility has everything you need for a workout. The grill area has been such a plus during the summer months. I recommend The Retreat to anyone.
SECOND UPDATE: It's been several weeks and they still have not gotten in contact with me. UPDATE: The Retreat at Mountain Brook has tried to scam me out of quite a bit of money. They called me on March 30th and claimed that I never paid my final month's rent and reletting fee. They wanted to collect before turning me over to a collections agency. I informed them that I had paid everything on time March 1 and it was deducted from my account the following day. It turns out that they credited my payment toward another tenants account on accident and yet they are still trying to charge me a $130 late fee for their mistake. They also price gouge residents upon move out by trumping up charges for "damages" to scam them out of additional money. ORIGINAL POST: Here is a very long but accurate review of my time at The Retreat at Mountain Brook. I lived there for just under a year before moving out of state. Here are some things you should consider before renting: 1. While nice, I wouldn’t consider this luxury. The apartments are older and come with their issues. Many units have carpet, and most, if not all, have laminate countertops. Most rooms don’t have lights and the units have very few windows. I will say, you get quite a bit of space for what you pay for, which is a plus, but again, I wouldn’t say these are luxurious. 2. The noise! The walls are thin. If you live on the bottom or middle floors, you will be able to hear your neighbors quite clearly. I could always hear my neighbors' footsteps, and at times, I could hear entire conversations. These are older units, so I guess that’s to be expected. 3. The water gets shut off all the time due to pipe issues. It happened countless times while I lived there. Don't be surprised if you wake up and try to take a shower and you can't. 4. The security is pointless. Most of the security guards don’t come out of the guard gate. People just drive right through. 5. My move-in/move-out experience wasn’t the best, and the front office seems disorganized. The front office pushed my move-in date back twice, the first time to accommodate the occupying tenant, and the second time to “ensure adequate time to clean the unit to their standards.” When I moved in, I was shocked at the condition of the unit. The bathrooms weren’t very clean; it looked like someone did a very fast job, so I had someone come in to clean those. There was food and debris in the dishwasher. My front door was broken and didn’t latch properly. The bathroom shower faucet handle immediately fell off. There was a giant concrete table leaning inside my patio left by the previous tenant. The blinds were missing pieces. Interesting that they consider this acceptable.
Haven't lived here but from a vendor point of view I can say the customer service has been good. Security staff effective and consistent.
