Rev is maybe my favorite bar+food place in Indy. Is it the best tacos? No. Is it the best Tiki? Also no. Still my favorite. The place is chill AF, great tiki bar and patio area, and I love the kalahu pork tacos to death, plus chicharrones, uh yes please. Excellent staff, top notch, always friendly and always great. Lets talk Tiki for a second - first, they have a blender. Ok snobs, line up, Trader Vic didn't like a blender - well it was 1934, blenders change, get modern. You want a technical tiki that tastes like 3 kinds of sour but is legit 1930s Oakland California? I can suggest some places, I know the rules, whatever - but this place, Rev, they have cool smooth tikis that are balanced and damn tasty and damn boozy, and friends, that is all this guy needs. Well, and the chicharrones.
Could be my favorite new hang! I drive by it every day, but had never been in. In fact, I thought it was just a hip cool coffee spot. Seems that it was always super busy, and I thought, " man, these Fountain Sqaure kids sure do love their americanos." No, this place is not a coffee shop, and apparently these fountain square kids love their Hawaii-Mexian fusion! I was walking through the area just doing my usual digs, and their liquor wall caught my eye from the street. I was like, "hol on, now, that's not coffee flavoring, that thar is spirits!", so I went in. Boom! From go, I'm blasted by the color arrangement of the worldly decor. I had no idea what a night I was in store for. I walk up to the bar, and Roni, one of the owners greets me. I explain that I had no idea what or where I was, and how I had no idea what they offered. She explained that this was a grand restaurant and bar. And bam, I see the draught beer list. Gaaaawd, how could I have missed such a gem for the last 2 years of being back in the area?! I ordered a Bier Brewery Dubbel, and chilled and took pics, as a single hip cool dude does. I talked w some of the servers, didnt get any names, cause you know that's creepy to ask names. They were doing their thing, I was doing the vibe thing. Got a chance to talk to one of the other owners, Tufty. I got the run down of the history and core values of the place. Place is pure lit. I was given a tour of the other seating locations of the restuarant, and the rest of the luminous decor. I then spent more time being delighted w tales of ol, and plans for the future w them. A grand night had by me. But I didnt est anything, because I think I had eaten just before. Who cares, gave me another reason to come back. Round 2: bite! I purposely went back a day ago just to order some food, and take a pic so I could post all my pics and this review. I walked up, and I didnt see any lights on, but the hours on the door said they were open. Always try the door! Opened the door, but no one was there, and the owner explained that the back was the seating of the evening. Well that's cool, I thought. I cant remember a place where a section of the building was closed, yet another was. The back half was more of a Hawaiian theme, while the front was more Mexican. I over heard the server tell a couple who had come in w me that the house Margarita was $5, so when she asked me, that's what o ordered. Who is never in a mood for a margarita? No this guy! As I wait for my drink,I looked over the food menu. Quite a selection! I ordered the pork tacos, but not the Hawaiian pork tacos, cause they were out. And these tacos were heavenly. They had house made hot sauces, and they added the bite I hoped for. As I enjoyed my margarita and pork tacos, I blissfully enjoyed the jamaican music that bumped on the stereo. W delight, I was treated w a rendition of " Take Five" from King Tubby, a dub legend. All the servers as super fun and inviting. Food is amazing, owners are hands on, and drinks are always flowing! Highly suggest this delicatessen! When in fountain square make sure to visit Revolucion restaurant and bar. I'll see y'all thar!
Yea there are plenty of other tequila bars and mexican restaurants around town but the quality is what separates Revolucion from all the other places. All their food is prepared with high standards and the drinks are mixed so smoothly. I highly recommend getting the nachos. Its enough for two people and obviously looks as delicious as it tastes.
The man that owns this place is rude and not very well kept seems like the staff takes a lot of abuse from him sadly. He needs to step down and get a real manager in there he was even rude to us but we wanted to see what they hype was about. The staff was friendly, the drinks were decent, the aesthetics were ok .. it’s nothing to super rave about I did enjoy the tacos we got but the real tiki bar is the inferno room. Plus this place has no parking you just have to find parking because it’s a heavy traffic area near this place
Having been here before the pandemic our group of eight were expecting to sit inside at one of the large tables. After entering we were told that everyone was outside in the back tiki bar area. I said we would rather sit inside. Bartender inside said they were only seating outside. No inside seating was being used. She gave no reason. After going outside we noticed that the only seating for more than four people was picnic tables. We pulled up two chairs on each end of the picnic table so we could all sit together. We are all over 65 years old. After sitting down our waitress took our drink orders and we ordered some appetizers. Nachos and cheese. They were very good. I ordered a drink and asked for a glass of water. I was told the water is over there. I saw two large igloo coolers sitting in front of the bar. Guess the waitress could bring me a drink but not a water. Thought that was strange. Ordered the Kalua burrito. It was huge and very tasty. All in all everything was good. Would have liked to sit inside in the air conditioning.
If you’re looking for a fun night/atmosphere this might be your spot, but if you’re looking for good tacos, stay away. My husband and I went here one evening pretty late. There was no hostess to greet us no problem, so we found one and asked what our seating options were. She told us we could stand at the “communal“ table or wait until seats opened at the bar. We started at the table, and then were able to get bar seats. The servers weren’t all that friendly but weren’t terrible. The queso dip was super basic, as were the margaritas. We had a number of tacos. The steak was the best, the shrimp was pretty terrible tiny shrimp, hardly any flavor, and the fish ones were super dry. However, the chicken was the absolute worst. Imagine someone just putting unseasoned dry shredded crockpot chicken in a tortilla with a lime on the side. I was shocked that they actually had the audacity to serve this basic chicken to customers and was extremely disappointed. If I’m honest, these were overall probably the worst tacos I’ve ever had. I have no reason to ever go back here.
Expansive bar in the front with plenty of seating and space with good Mexican style food and home made hot sauces. Try the Pink Death!. And in the back a tiki bar vibe with outdoor seating in the summer. Service was quick and drinks and beer were moderately priced.
We have been here about 4 times. It’s on the other side of the city but we keep coming back because of the quality food and drink and the atmosphere. The staff is amazing and you can tell that the owners appreciate their people. The cocktails are full of flavor and the menu has something for everyone with appetizing fusions. Last night we were trying to decide where to go for a drink and also wanted to meet up with some friends. We decided on Revolucion and it turned out they were already there. No surprise.
Major error on my part! Open for business, in back Tiki bar! Great music, Larry Laaieburger, great burger to bun ratio, toppings lasted to last bite. Crispy fried, Thanks Kim for telling me about this place! Will be back with others!
So, I live in Carmel... and if I want tacos, I drive all the way to fountain square. Why? Because their Tacos de Papas are the best things ever. I've never had a taco there I didn't fully enjoy. The staff is always very friendly and attentive regardless of what time it is. They have an amazing selection of tequilas and whiskey, esp for a tiki bar. Their margaritas are great, especially the Cadillac if I'm remembering the name correctly, even their house marg is pretty great. I will never not recommend Revolucion. If only I lived closer, I'd probably be a regular there almost weekly
