I have been getting my fish tacos here for 8 years. You need to call ahead because it takes time. 2 tacos is enough for lunch because they are pretty big and they have a good amount of avocado on them. The hot sauce red and green are both home made and very good. It’s the best lunch around. The guy behind the counter isn’t friendly but I still go because the tacos are good.
Ordered chicken and chorizo burritos. They both came with tortillas chips and was thick so it was more on the tough side to chew. The burritos were good but I thought the rice was a bit too mushy. Pretty good food portion for the price.
Affordable Extensive Menu,$$, Delectable Delicious Dietary safe and sound. Accepts SNAP for cold food. The BEST HOMEMADE SOUP!!! FRIENDLY FAMILY WORKERS. Food like Mama's kitchen.
Cannot say enough great things about Reyes. It is a weekly destination for us and a must anytime we have out of town visitors. The tacos are some of the best in the city, especially the fish tacos! The arroz con leche is a perfect treat, too.
This is not your ordinary Brooklyn bodega, although it makes sense to assume as much. From the outside, it's completely nondescript, which is good news for regular patrons. All the usual suspects are here: canned goods, kitty litter, chips and sodas. But the real star of the show is Ishmael, the store's cook. Ishmael makes all the usual fare, such as the bacon-egg-and-cheese-on-a-roll a virtual food group here in NYC, but it's the authentic Mexican that really takes off here. If you need tacos, you're covered--just watch the line, which can get 8 deep or more at lunch time! The store's patrons represent the full mix of Brooklyn, but it is worth noting that Spanish-speaking locals make up the preponderance of those ordering hot foods. My first clue that the food was good was a line of construction workers stretching from back to front. Ishmael cooks everything fresh, so be prepared to wait--nothing is pre-cooked here. He uses corn not flour tacos and tortillas, and though I wouldn't call this place 'dirt cheap', it is hot, fresh, and fairly-priced. A big bistec quesadilla will run you $7, which makes for a substantial meal and a great taste out.
Best Taco's in Brooklyn at the lowest price. Their sauce is insane!!! My personal favorite are their spicy chicken tacos. In a huge city with awful Mexican food this place is a gem....and sooo affordable!
Legit Mexican food to go. Excellent tacos, torta sandwiches, and more. They also sell their delicious and spicy! house made salsas to-go in small mason jars.
I haven't been able to find a decent place to buy Mexican ingredients in the area, so I was excited to discover Reyes Grocery. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. For a supposed Mexican grocery, they have very few Mexican ingredients. I bought some blue corn tortillas, but when I got home I noticed that they were just white tortillas with blue dye.
I've been coming here for about 4 years consistently and they've never disappointed. The food is fresh and very high quality. There's a lot of flavor to be found in every dish I've had. Their red and green hot sauces are homemade and very tasty. The customer service is top notch as well. I always chat with Leo and the other guys when I come by. Sometimes there's a little wait for the food because of the volume of demand but it is worth it every time. Easily one of the better spots for authentic Mexican food cooked with love and pride.
Great service, super friendly, always busy, best empanadas ever
