The wines are amazing here! This was such a fun experience, getting in was a little confusing. You approach this vintage building and have to go up 4 big flights of stairs. When you get to the top your welcomes with a smile, box water and chips with an amazing view! This place is modern, bistro lights, hammocks, pretty chairs and tables with the grape vines and plants providing shade. We got the wine flights and they were perfect, you get to sample 3 wines with each flight. The white wine we had was amazing on the 1st flight so I had a glass of that. I’m not a big wine person but this was definitely a fun experience!
This place is fantastic!! We came here for a group outing and had such an amazing time. Natasha and her team were so organized and attentive, they took incredible care of us. Devin hosted our group wine tasting which was fun and informative. This was a great interactive experience that was so much more interesting than just drinking on a rooftop. We had a welcome drink as guests arrived, then a charcuterie pairing during the wine tasting, followed by pizza/flatbreads when we transitioned to reds, and after the wine tasting ended we a more substantial catered meal, followed by some competitive cornhole games! If you’re looking for a place to hang out or a place to host a party, we had 40 people and everyone had positive things to say. I would definitely come back. Just note that getting into the Brooklyn Navy Yard is tricky, so if you’re bringing a big group, make sure you give clear directions so your guests don’t get lost.
I had really high hopes for this place because I’ve tried their wine before at an event and loved it. First, as all the other reviews mentioned finding their place is a nightmare. There are no clear signs and it is confusing. Then, nowhere on their website does it say that “reservations are required” it only says to make one. Their website doesn’t explain that you NEED to make a reservation just to go and sit at their place which it’s insane. It’s 15 dollars a person to just go inside which gets you a bottle of water and some chips. Anyways, when we finally found the place the first person to help us was super kind and explained the situation and then wen to look for a place for us to seat. Then, another lady came wish knew her name because she was EXTREMELY rude and condescending because we didn’t have a reservation. The first girl that helped us quickly told her that there was a table available for us! I could tell that made her unhappy but we finally sat down. The guy that took our order was fast since we only had an hour left and made sure we got everything we needed. I was honestly disappointed in the pours of their wines and their space was nothing to rave about. Yes, it’s on a rooftop but other than that you’re not missing much. Maybe if they would work on clear signage on how to get to their place, hire better front staff and explain how things work I would of had a better experience. Unfortunately I will not return to this place! Too expensive for nothing.
We really enjoyed our time here, and we stayed for almost 4 hours! The rooftop was well decorated and has amazing views if the weather is nice. Our only wishes were that it was easier to locate and a little cheaper. We tried a few wine flights which were all fun, but think that ordering bottles would have been slightly more economical.
Pros: beautiful view and a cool atmosphere Cons: 1- IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. We walked around for 30 mins + and called twice for directions. Even then we definitely didn’t enter through the proper entrance. We used Google maps, Apple Maps, person to person directions from the security guard and were absolutely lost. 2- the service is SLOW. We waited for our FIRST drink order for 15+ minutes… for three drinks. We then waited 35+ minutes for our second round. Again, three drinks straight off the menu. It really wasn’t busy, maybe half the tables had people and they mostly just serve drinks so I don’t know what the issue was. 3- the cost isn’t worth what you get. $18 just to get a reservation, then the bill on top of it. The glasses were small servings in cheap glassware for $11-13 with $50-70 for a bottle generally. A tasting was $20, again small servings and not worth it. Overall, glad we came once just for the view but other than the view it wasn’t great. I don’t plan on returning, nor does anyone in my group.
It is not a traditional space which makes it more attractive for a visitor. I don’t think they have regural customers as it is not an obvious choice. You have to make a reservation, nd show it to a guard outside a building in this complex, then you have to find the correct building and go to fifth floor with no elevator. So it is not for an average American : wines are solid, not bad. It is though super overpriced. That’s the reason for 4* instrad 5.
BOOK YOUR TICKETS NOW! Rooftop Reds is a vineyard in Brooklyn Navy Yard that sells wines by the glass, bottles & FLIGHTS! I found this after looking for a fun activity on eventbrite & purchased tickets with two of my close girlfriends. No outside food or drinks are allowed BUT you are given a bottle of water & bags of chips with your ticket. You can also order pizza from a partner restaurant that is delivered right to your table. We had an amazing view of Fort Greene & enjoyed watching the sunset. Would highly recommend for a mid sized group or fun date activity! Don’t think twice, BOOK NOW!
I echo Kelly M. Mueller’s post that this place is fantastic!! Booked RR for a surprise birthday party and everything and everyone was so organized and attentive from my initial contact to schedule with Michelle who was so responsive, answering my many questions, to Natasha the day of, Irena and Rick, hosts of our group wine tour and tasting who were so knowledgeable and informative. We were well taken care of. If you want a fun interactive experience for a small casual get together or a large party for a special occasion, this is a hidden gem yes, literally, a bit hard for our guests to find. Everyone loved it. As the host of the party I didn’t get to enjoy it as I was making sure my guests and the birthday girl were having a good time so I plan on going back for me!
I really wanted to love this place, but it was underwhelming. It was cumbersome trying to locate the spot. Be prepared to climb 4 flights of stairs to get to the roof and again no signage on the steps. It was a hot NYC day, and it would have been great to have some fans. No music. Our waitress was knowledgeable so that's a plus. Overall, it didn't feel like a wine tasting "experience." I more than likely wouldn't visit again. You're better off going to a winery in the Hudson Valley region where it's less expensive and more of a wine tasting experience. The Jamaican food catering was honestly the best part.
Super cute wine bar in a sort of hidden location in BK. It's in the Navy Yard so it could be hard to find but they send directions via email and it's easy to find if you follow the map. I love the message of what they do there. Their focus is sustainability and bringing wine education to everyday people. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and guided us through the flights with us in a very interesting way. We had a great experience and I highly recommend anyone interested in local wine to visit!
