Room 244 is newly updated rentable event space in Old City for art shows, business meetings, engagements, family parties, networking happy hours, you name it. I held the first art show there for the grand opening in June 2019 in and it was a huge success! The location is great for passersby and foot traffic and the physical space is very charming with plants hanging in the large window in the front, old decorative iron gates at the doors, string lighting across the sidewalk, and an A-frame outside with information. It is surprisingly spacious inside, able to hold at least 5 large scale paintings, 7 medium sized frames, and a few small sized works without feeling over-crowded. There is a small room in the back with a window that leads into a small courtyard with string lighting and chairs which was perfect for setting up refreshments and hors d'oeuvres with the ability to become a private room if needed. There is also a small bathroom located between the larger rooms. There are plenty of outlets and track lighting throughout the space and installation was easy, especially with a hardware store around the corner. There are also long tables in varying sizes with tablecloths if needed and different chairs so you can customize the space to fit your needs. Laura was very flexible with access to the space and was able to work around my busy schedule. I would definitely consider renting the space out in the future for another First Friday event.
I had the pleasure of throwing my mom’s birthday and Mother’s Day Party here in May. It was really easy to communicate with Laura, and she was able to work around my schedule for when I wanted to come by and come in early to set up. The place is open and easy to modify for our needs. We had 2 large tables to set up food, drinks, and dessert. We were able to fit our whole group comfortably and set up 4 tables for seating and a photo spot right by the front window. We had such a good time that we’re planning on using the space again in the future.
Pretty nice, cozy spot! Stopped by to check out a friend's art on First Friday and was pleasantly surprised on how cool this space was. Doesn't look big from the front, but has a decent amount of space, a nicely sized backyard, and very helpful, down to earth staff. I'm all booked for my cousin's baby shower event there in July, can't wait! I'll be sure to update my review after my event.
We rented Room 244 for an Old City First Friday gallery night to promote Bobby Zeik’s artwork. The location for First Friday is perfect and the rental rate is reasonable as well. We received a great deal of foot traffic for a colder night in January. The space is ideal to display wall art and also provides tables if needed for refreshments. Laura Kao, the owner, is a true professional and very easy to work with. Laura answered all questions promptly and clearly communicated everything that was needed for the event. Laura also took the time to promote our event on Room 244’s social media. Overall, we had a great experience with Room 244 and look forward to utilizing the venue again in the future.
Awesome lil venue! I was able to quickly plan an early evening function here without the hassle and red tape that so many other locations make you wade through these days. Affordable, conveniently located, has a ton of plants, and a cute old city backyard patio shaded by a huge tree. Look forward to hosting something again here soon! Thanks Laura!
Found this great space at a First Friday event in Old City. I was impressed with the event and the place! The art display looked professional, and the place was modern yet comfortable. Amazing find in the middle of the city. Definitely would recommend this space!
Great rental experience, super easy to work with and wonderful space. Really helpful to have all the chairs, pedestals, etc available as well. Highly recommend!
Stopped by for first Friday and it’s a great space! Cool art on the walls and a nice little backyard courtyard.
