The best thing about this place is the location, the outdoor terrace and the atmosphere. Coffee just average, I have given this place a few chances now and it’s just not there. Just check out how my flat white looked like I actually asked if that was the standard and they said yes. The pastries are average as well - croissant and almond croissant weee just disappointing . Really wanted this place to give a chance…come here for the neighbourhood vibe, don’t expect barista quality coffee
Descent place with a cool vibe, we stopped by here to try their coffee. The cappuccino we ordered was quality and tasted rich. However, overall I felt that the quantity of the same was pretty small for a medium size cup and the coffee served wasn’t warm enough. We also tried their almond croissant which was okay and didn’t taste like an ‘Almond’ croissant to be honest.
So I did like this place. The barista forgot our order even though we were sat directly in front of him for 15 minutes. There's a weird paradox in that no pets are allowed inside a good decision in my book but dog treats are available inside. It's funny that there's notwto offer children to treat them but if you bring a dog there's something nice for your pooch. I had a spiced latte which was actually nicer and spicier than I imagined.
Friendly service and quality coffee. I believe they use verve coffee. The Carmelita is my favorite…hot or iced!!
Nicest family running the place, so glad the business survived the pandemic! There's always a relaxed crowd of happy customers enjoying the patio with their friends, families, pups. Highly recommend an oat milk mocha.
such a neat little coffee spot with a very retro-meets-modern energy. after a few years of following pandemic guidelines, the shop recently re-opened at full capacity, including their inside ordering area. there isn’t a ton of seating at the venue i’d guess 15-20 tables max? but i’ve never had a problem finding a spot. coffee is great, and the handful of food options they have are pretty tasty too. worth a visit if you’re around!
Super cool spot and they serve Verve coffee!
My girlfriend and I stopped here a couple of times. The first time I got a latte which was pretty good. The second time I got a cold brew, but it was pretty watered down for my taste. Very cute location though. I'll still give it another try.
THOSE WITH SEVERE FOOD ALLERGIES: BE CAREFUL HERE I have witnessed two instances of staff not paying attention to a very real food allergy. I live nearby and really like this place most of the time. Sadly, twice now I’ve ordered items and asked for oat milk in place of regular milk. Both times I received regular milk. The first time I immediately caught the issue. They changed it for me made a new one with oat milk instead of regular milk. I always say “with oat milk” automatically, and I explicitly recall looking for it on the menu before ordering. The second time, unfortunately, I did not catch the problem. My partner found that the item had milk—the way in which this was discovered involved a day of pain and suffering due to the allergy itself. Milk allergies are real, horrible, and exposure to lactose-containing products can induce serious, sometimes life-threatening problems. Thinking of both times this happened, I should have been more careful, especially considering the vibe of the employees. Both times, place had three people working in the middle of the day. The second time, there was only one other customer there, and the staff was not paying close attention to me when I ordered. Instead they were more interested in their own conversations with each other. While I have no complaints about that in and of itself, when it’s at the expense of customer HEALTH, it’s a problem for human life. Roy’s Station Coffee & Tea staff, please pay more attention to what is being ordered and listen for modifications — add them to the ticket so other staff do not make a mistake. Do whatever it takes to make it so we don’t suffer the horrific effects of significant food/milk allergies. Please, please, please.
In A Nutshell: -Roy's Station was a great business move once they took over the old auto shop several year's ago. -Japantown is finally blooming after year's of stagnation & Roy's is a nice anchor. -They have a wide variety of coffee-based drinks & teas. -Plenty of outdoor space too w/ nice succulents. -Walk up, order, go around the side to pick-up your takeout order. Overall, it's a cool place to be seen & to enjoy the beautiful weather we all enjoy in the South Bay.
