I was in need of atotal knee replacement. I had the work done at HSS and Dr Strickland was my surgeon. Dr Strickland was impeccable and successfully repaired a knee that was a total mess. Not only was my knee bone on bone but there was other tissue and spurs that needed attention as well. What I am impressed with is the progressive approach they are taking for rehab. I am using a brace that has electrodes that send currents in to the muscles. It’s supposed to help accelerate the healing process, that gadget plus her encouragement of other modern medical equipment is making it a very smooth rehabilitation. Anyone looking for a surgeon should look no further. She’s a no nonsense but personable person with a cool confidence that shows me she is in charge and knows how to get the job done.
I have a degenerative bone disorder in multiple joints. Doctor Strickland came very very close to doing an unnecessarily invasive procedure on me that would have been a very tough recovery. She jumped to this before considering other, less invasive options. Fortunately, my alarm bells went off and I sought a second opinion from another shoulder doctor at HSS as well as a metabolic bone specialist, both who confirmed that they didn’t believe the surgery Dr. Strickland wanted to perform would even work for me, given my history. Instead, I got a much less invasive procedure that will likely put off a shoulder replacement until I’m at a more appropriate age. Dr. Strickland spent a grand total of 15 minutes talking to me and didn’t give the care or attention that was necessary for my issue. As a result of that lack of the consideration, I came uncomfortably close to getting an unnecessary surgery. Other doctors have given me much more consideration, time, empathy, and care. Dr. Strickland may be a very good doctor for other people; however, I’d urge folks to seek a second opinion if you feel something may possibly be off. Often time that gut instinct is very on point. I would not recommend Dr. Strickland.
Dr Strickland thank you as the only reason I went forward now was because of Dr Strickland reviews , confidence , knowledge , overall the secure feeling she gave me. I had the surgery Monday March 1st and today March 5th I’m walking with use of crutches but feel pretty good of course there is swelling and periods better then others but overall considering I believe we’re doing better then expected and owe it all to Dr Strickland so if anyone is considering having procedure done and has the opportunity to have Dr Strickland well there is no thing to think about , do it you’ll be much happier you did.Once again I want to say thank you to Dr Strickland and I’m a fan ; ....
Dr. Sabrina Strickland is the consummate professional. She is caring, brilliant and she presented me with long term options for dealing with arthritis in my knee that I did not get from other knee doctors. Another review stated that Dr Strickland is rushed- NOTHING could be farther from the truth! I have an odd metal allergy and she talked at length about my allergy and told me about research and testing being done at Rush Medical school. Nobody - not even my allergist - knew about this testing! If you want a truly great knee doctor who is up on the latest medical research see Dr Strickland .
Dr Strickland is an excellent, professional, knowledgeable and thorough surgeon. My 14 year old daughter had visited a couple of orthopedic doctors before we saw Dr Strickland without treatment or relief of knee pain. Dr Strickland took a conservative approach with her treatment prior to performing surgery to correct the problem. When she did need a surgery, she and I were reassured by Dr Strickland's staff. They were amazing. I highly recommend Dr Strickland as the first stop if you are in knee or shoulder pain. She knows what she's doing!!! I can't say enough good things about Dr Strickland or the Hospital for Special Surgery and our experience.
I first saw Dr. Strickland to get a second opinion on knee surgery. The inventions she recommended have kept me out of a surgical suite for almost 10 years now. When that day comes, I'd trust no one else to do the surgery. I've experienced nothing but excellence and great attitudes from everyone in her practice during all of my visits. Highly recommended.
Update: I actually needed my right triceps repaired due to a traumatic rupture, and Dr. Strickland did a flawless, perfect surgery on April 22nd. By June 10, only 7 weeks post-op, I already have full range of motion and full use of my elbow. That is exceptional for this kind of surgery, exceptional I am an orthopedic physical therapist. I am slowly getting back to weights and I will be back at heavy weight lifting. She did a FLAWLESS surgery. I am not just a physical therapist but now a patient of hers. She. Is. The. Best. Hands down! I do not know what that Jennifer Logan woman is talking about. Dr. Strickland is the surgeon for the Olympian stars and a professor at Hospital for Special Surgery. She is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. I am a physical therapist so I am not just a person without any in-depth knowledge of this field. I went to see her for my own shoulder issues and she took care of me in the most professional way. To unfairly trash a very skilled specialist surgeon saying she does not know her field is totally ludicrous and unfair. Check Dr. Strickland's reviews everywhere else and you know this Jennifer is a troll.
The worst medical office visit Ive ever had! I was in excruciating pain. Dr. Stricktland said it was probably a muscle pinching a nerve and ordered an MRI with the goal of getting a messily cortisone shot - there was another urgency which is I’m also am getting married next week which I told her!! Rather than see to it that I was able to get an appointment, her incompetent office sat on my file that the insurance company had requested. I went to get my MRI, while in severe pain, only to be told that the insurance was still pending. I called my insurance and they told me the Strictland’s office had never sent over the requested materials. When I called DR. Strictland’s office they flat out lied to me and told they had sent the materials. After HOURS of calling back and forth, Sabrina Strictland’s office finally admitted that they had never sent over any of the requested materials. This triggered an emergency call between Dr. Strictland herself and the insurance company. Turns out, Dr. Strictland’s herself came to the conclusion I didn’t need an MRI!! She reversed her own decision and decided to leave me in pain! Now I’m getting married in 4 days and I can’t stand for more than 15mins without being in severe pain. I will tell everyone I can about the horrible treatment I received at HSS. I will never trust the incompetent jerks at HSS and Dr Strictland’s office.
First, shame on reviewers who bring down a doctor's rating because of what they deem a less than satisfactory experience with the physician's staff. You are doing a big disservice to folks who want to find good physicians. I just left Dr. Strickland's office and and like everyone else here, I am blown away by her bedside manner and knowledge. She diagnosed my problem in 10 minutes and came up with a treatment plan. I am very lucky to have found her. Ms. Debra, no disrespect, but it seems like you over-Googled your symptoms and thought you knew everything before walking into Dr. Strickland's office. If the tone you display in your review matched your demeanor when you were at the office, well, it would be a bad day for just about everyone. Many thanks to Dr. Strickland and her staff. I know I am in the best of hands.
Dr. Strickland is a highly professional surgeon. She reconstructed my knee's ACL 5 months ago and today my knee feels stronger than ever. I am not back to normal 100% yet, but I'm slowly getting there. Thank you Dr. Strickland for all that you have done.
