Saint Louis Art Museum

The Art Museum is one of St Louis' top notch free museums. The recent expansion added a great modern art exhibit, as well as opening up space for their Classical art collection. A membership only costs $60 for the year and provides free access for many of the great traveling exhibits. Also, the front steps offer a beautiful view of the Grand Basin in Forest Park.

A wonderful collection and you can't beat the price - free! Great place to take the family. Take along a picnic lunch and avoid the pricey tourist trap food costs. The park is beautiful.

I went with a group to see the Sunken Cities exhibit. It was pretty awe inspiring. I love SLAM because outside of the exhibits, it's free to visit. There are a few names there that everyone would recognize, such as Picasso. The parking can be difficult, but otherwise a great trip for a large variety of art.

Many large galleries of a variety of beautiful works! Most recently a a special exhibit from the Egypt that was excavated from under the water. Always an educational place to go and expand your understanding of human perception and how artists have translated that throughout the ages. Well, and suits of armor, swords and things like that too. 10/10 worth going again and again

I've been to a lot of art museums and this is still my favorite one. They have a solid collection especially for the size of St. Louis. The exhibits that come through are always interesting and getting into the museum is free. I've been going here for almost two decades since I was a kid and always enjoyed my visit. One of the best things to do in St. Louis if you enjoy art even a little.
