The guy you'll be dealing with is Mark Cook. He'll set up the arrival of the movers, etc., and he'll be the guy you work with if anything goes wrong. Here's what went wrong for me. First, we agreed on 3 guys at 125.00 per hour. He sent 4 guys at 145.00 per hour. I wasn't present at the time they arrived, so I couldn't send one of them back. By the time I arrived there were one or two guys working in the truck and two guys standing around on the sidewalk, totally inefficient and costly to me. What's really lame is dealing with the loading aftermath, which involved the breakage of my bike stem. It seems that the loaders purposely twisted my bike handlebars 90 degrees relative to the wheel in order to pack it better. Then they loaded the bike upside down at floor level. I'll put in a couple of pics so you can see how stupid this was. Anyway, Mark has made it clear that the company won't help me out by replacing the stem, though it's only around 100.00 on Ebay. He says all they'll pay for is .60 per pound of damaged item, which would cover maybe 3.00 dollars. I told him the stem weighed 167 pounds, but he didn't get the joke, go figure.
We knew that we needed to find the right local movers to handle moving mostly the big items from our 4 bed home to a nearby similar size house. I was really stressed out initially trying to pick the right affordable reliable professional level local moving company for our move. A co-worker recommended us to San Jose Movers which turned out great and zapped most of the stress we had about hiring the right movers after getting rate information and booking our move through their office.! Short review, everything went smooth!! No damage, Fair Pricing and the crew were efficient.... obviously knew what they were doing. We had Leo and 2 others for 8 hours!! And this was mostly just the big heavy stuff which took them two trips in the really large 24'- 26' truck they had. The men were very professional, experienced and super nice. We knew that our larger items were going to need extra care and we made sure to have tons of wrapping plastic to help offset some costs. An expense we did not anticipate was cost of a few packing materials We were fine paying for it, since we knew we needed to properly wrap things. And we had a lot! I made sure to have water and soda for the guys, and tried to keep some available for them at both locations. Only 2 minor issues.. we did not get a heads up call prior them knocking on the door which would have been nice, but we were ready for them anyhow. We just would have had the car moved out of the way from the start. One other small issue, I had been told that drawers could be filled with clothing, but we were required to remove it. In the end, it was probably for the best with our stairs and making it lighter for them to lift. However, had I just been told that if you have a large or tall dresser, it is best to have it cleared, it would have been done prior to their arrival. Overall, I really cannot complain... 98% of everything involved in our move went perfectly. We happily gave them a really decent tip. which they certainly deserved for carefully but very efficiently relocating us to our new residence. I'm so happy and feel fortunate we reserved with these local San Jose Movers for our change of residence. Thank you very much!
WE really liked the service these Movers provided. My boyfriend and I work, and we had no time to finish the packing and definitely no time to do the move by our self. So we hired this company, and that is one great decision we made. Everything was done quickly, professionally and timely. Will recommend them to anyone
