One of, if not the best course in a town of fantastic golf courses. If you can get a tee time here, make it. Staff typically on point. Good food. Great conditions. If you’re just visiting Sandia is a must play.
Played 9-18-22. The greens were firm and fast. The fairways were in good shape lined with medium rough. This is a great course for any player from professional to amateur or just beginning. There are a variety of teas to challenge every player. The staff is prompt and friendly. Enjoy your rounds.
Incredible desert course with beautiful views on every hole. Course is in awesome condition. Not overly difficult, but definitely still a challenge. Will absolutely play again next time I’m in Albuquerque!
Love this course and those that work here. Always in great condition. Challenging holes but not impossible. I’m a 12 handicap to give you an idea of how I play. Greens are in great condition. Typically not cut super short so they don’t play fast. Plenty of undulation to keep it fun but not so much that putts turn into nightmares.
The friendly and hard working staff make this place even more enjoyable. The property is kept clean and safe. The New sports bar has magnificent views of Sandia Mountain. Great golf course and pool too.
Could not have been a better golf outing. I travel for work and play all over the country. This place is definitely a standout. The staff was friendly and accommodating, reminded me of Texas. The course was challenging and well maintained. Highly recommended and I will be back for sure
This course was my first experience with golf, ever! I’m not a pro by any means and I’ll admit the initial drives are tough for a beginner who can’t catch much air underneath their golf ball. I’ll definitely be coming back as I improve! I’ll be picking up the sport after my experience here.
The good stuff comes at the end of the review. Just want to address some of the other commenters' gripes first. I think that the negative reviews of this course are pretty absurd. Not that there's NOTHING negative, but really the only thing that truly irked me was no water on the course. It was about 95 degrees and seeing all the empty water cooler stations and dry water fountains was brutal. Felt like I was going to die of a heat stroke. That said, the complaints about the carts is ridiculous. They're super nice, and only in 2-3 spots in the whole course, for a total of 20 yards, do they restrict you to 9 mph. They also show you where the people ahead of you are on blind tee shots, so you never have to guess. The staff was friendly, or at least professional, and Grace beverage cart woman was incredible. To those who said that the course was "Ruined" under Troon ownership... well, I can't say what it was like before, but it's awesome now. So that, too, is kind of an obnoxious claim. So, for the good stuff: Perfectly maintained teeboxes, beautiful greens, well-manicured fairways. Most holes are straightforward, though some would benefit from a caddy or having played there before. The course is a perfect mix of challenging and forgiving. You likely won't shoot your worst score ever here, but don't think that hitting a beautiful drive guarantees a par. My favorite thing about the course from a golf perspective is the risk-reward element. There's some holes where a conservative tee shot takes a high number off the table, but makes a par very unlikely. On the flip side, an aggressive line successfully executed leaves a very short approach, but failing to carry leaves you in a wasteland from which you will not recover. Really cool stuff. Finally, if you're anything like me and you're just trying to figure out which NM course to play on your vacation and hoping for good views, this course is different than Black Mesa, Twin Warrior, Cochiti Lake, etc. It's not *in* the mountains, per se, but it offers an unobstructed backdrop of the mountains on quite literally every hole. I thought it was awesome, though I'd also strongly recommend pairing this with either Black Mesa or Twin Warrior for the full range of what NM mountain golf has to offer. Oh, and most importantly, this course is great value. 75 bucks for my weekday tee time with a cart, and a beautiful warmup range with balls included. Paako Ridge is charging 225, and though I haven't played it, I'm so glad I "settled" for Sandia.
A real New Mexico Experience, with sagebrush, arroyos, yuccas and the 5000 vertical Sandia Mountains as your back drop... Week Day evening discounts rates make this enjoyable for all.
Excellent golfing experience. Course is in fantastic shape.
