Reviews
I rarely, rarely post negative reviews unless it’s repeated instances of awful behavior. Seaport Properties is such the case. My roommate and I moved in during March 2020 was that an omen? Who knows. Her room was converted into a closet by the previous tenants and they had installed various shelving into the wall. They took them down and patched it over. However, Seaport Properties did not paint over it, so for several months her room was literally patch work. Fine, that’s reasonable given the state of the Country/World during that time. Because of COVID we did a walkthrough without management present and documented everything to send to them, including taking photos it was small stuff like stains on a carpet, cracks in the tile, etc. Over the course of our year long lease we had several issues that either took months to get resolved or were never fixed. This included a glass storm door that wasn’t properly secured, a window leak, and a chipped/ cracked toilet lid. The storm door was eventually fixed, the window was not, and they sent someone over to the look at the toilet. This person said it would may be difficult to find a replacement cover but that he could fix the current lid. We never saw this person again the break happened in August 2020, the person came during the fall, we moved out March 2021. We didn’t do a walkthrough with them on move out, lesson learned there. We did have it professionally cleaned and had patched up holes from nails, removed all our stuff, etc. They sent a security deposit that included charges for the toilet lid $700, garbage disposal removal $300, among other things. All the charges were exorbitant, but I expected a bit of a convenience markup. It’s the fact that they charged us to replace the toilet toilet also continually ran and drove up our water bill for months before they sent someone out to fix it that is so egregious. We got back about half back after I pursued mediation through the city we didn’t have a garbage disposal to begin with and it’s not mentioned in the lease, so that was returned to us. I wish I’d pursued further legal action but my former roommate is no longer in the area and life became more hectic for me so I dropped it. All in all, don’t rent from this business. No matter how cute the place is, the chance that something like this could happen to you is high. Just look at some of the reviews… I will note that the office staff we interacted with were lovely and provided excelled service So, Cheryl, while I never completed a review online in order to enter into your $500 raffle, I am finally leaving a review. And shame on you. TLDR: if you rent from them don’t expect your security deposit back or any urgency with maintenance.
We have rented through Seaport for over a year and have no major complaints. Our unit is old and whenever something breaks Seaport responds and repairs within a day or two, which is awesome. They have even repaired things I thought they couldn't/wouldn't, like water pressure. The apartments themselves are very old and could use an upgrade plugs are 2 prong, bathroom is old and has no fan or ventilation, most walls, cabinets, windowsills, electrical units, etc. have been painted over multiple times... but you know what you're getting before you move in. We have also had locks cut and property stolen from the back yard as well as from our car parked out front. When I informed Seaport, just to let them know things had been stolen, I got no response. Overall, we love our apartment and our neighbors. The location is great. Del Ray is a short walk away and Old Town is a 5min bike ride. We love that we can have dogs here and that the units are incredibly spacious.
I have loved living in Brenton Court in Del Ray, Alexandria managed by Seaport properties. I have amazing neighbors who all hang out together in the backyard, which has been a life saver during the pandemic. The Seaport team has been very responsive. I had a new roommate move in and they painted the room. They have fixed other things, including the bathroom floor and stove, within a few days of submitting a request. The location cannot be beat-super close to the metro, old town and del ray! Very very fair prices.
I’ve been renting from Seaport Properties for a year and just renewed my lease. Whenever something went wrong with an appliance, we’ve always received quick and great service. Specifically, Angela Johnson has been highly communicative, personable, and easy to work with.
My husband and I have been renting from Seaport since 2014. We have enjoyed excellent rent rates in the heart of Old Town. Our place is older this is OLD Town - this is what you should expect but we loved the charm of the older building and everything was very spacious compared to other apartments we had seen. We have only had minor maintenance issues since being in our apartment but they were responded to promptly when we reported them. Management went above and beyond on a few occasions that were unexpected! For example, my dog walker was locked out and Cheryl offered to run over to walk our dog because my anxiety was so high that he hadn't been walked that day! It was amazing and very sweet since I worked way across the city and couldn't get to him. We recommend the property to others because we have been treated so very well and we enjoyed a great place for 5 years.
