As both a parent and a former teacher, I can tell you without a doubt that while I enjoyed working directly with the teachers in my own classroom, I felt extremely uncomfortable knowing that even though my own son’s classroom was just a few doors down, that his safety was constantly put in jeopardy. Within the first two months of my teaching there, I showed up to the classroom to pick him up and on two separate occasions, he was dismissed by the teacher with bruises on his forehead on two separate occasions with no explanation. They weren’t even aware that he had a mark on his forehead until I pointed it out myself on both occasions. When he moved up to the next classroom, my mama spirit was a little bit on edge knowing that the toddler teachers would take small children to run up and down a ramp near a flight of stairs for exercise instead of using A large playroom with age appropriate equipment that was perfectly available to use during days that were rainy or too hot. On one of those occasions, they left my son to run and trip where he now has a permanent scar on the top of his forehead because of their lack of precautions for safety and continued negligence. All of this could’ve been avoided if they had played in an appropriate play space. Moreover, the Director of the parents day out program did not take my concerns seriously when I presented them to her in a very matter-of-fact way. She dismissed my concerns, and because of that as well as the utter negligence of the staff, I gladly turned in my resignation before the fall semester began. Thankfully, we have moved on to greener pastures and introduce safer situation, but I am sad to have left behind two teachers that I really loved and adored and a classroom full of parents and teachers that I really enjoyed working with However, none of that is worth my children’s safety. When my son was in the younger classroom, he was not offered adequate hydration, and this led to extreme malnutrition and dehydration which led to a trip to the pediatric ICU at LeBonheur for a week. If young children are playing outside in the hot sun or exerting themselves in anyway, hydration is absolutely necessary and time after time, the cups of water and milk would be sent home completely full just as I sent them that morning. I know, because I sent a particular type of fortified milk because my son needed extra calories. I explained this multiple times to both the Director and the teachers and my son’s care, however they continue to dismiss my concerns. The Director also told me point blank: “the teachers are really intimidated by you.“ I thought to myself, good, maybe they need to step up their game as far as standards of care. The parents day out program is extremely lacking and I would never suggested to anyone teaching or as a young student. The only reason I am getting one star is because I absolutely enjoyed the teachers I worked with directly in my classroom and the parents and students. Everything else is an absolute fail. Also, time after time again when my son had had so many injuries, I was told that the Director would give me an injury report which is a requirement by the state of Tennessee through DHS, and I was never given a copy of an accident report. This is a gross safety violation, and I will not tolerate my son to continue to get hurt, so that’s why we moved along to safer more structured environments.
This beautiful church is very welcoming and pleasant. The pastor is caring and warm.
Attended a Baccalaureate service for God neice. Beautiful church ,warm reception, gorgeous sanctuary
During the 11 am service on Sunday, June 23, 2010, pastoral resident Artez Henderson offered a prayer. During the prayer, he made certain to pray for Brandon Webber and the people of Frayser, Tn. He neglected to pray for the man in Hernando, Ms who Webber was being served a warrant for shooting five times while stealing his car. I believe this victim is deserving of prayers just as much as Webber and the residents of Frayser. The residents of Hernando, Ms could also benefit from your prayers. That kind of bias is unacceptable in a man of the cloth.
Wonderful place in the heart of Memphis with a heart for the gospel. Even though it is a big church, the many adult Sunday school classes are each like small church communities.
Very great church to worship!! My grandchild really loves it here!
I was recently employed here and I really did appreciate the oppurtunity. This is a wonderful place to be.
