This is a place of beauty, be it for art or for music. My mother performed here many times in the 1980's, her pinnacle performance being her role in the Franz Behar opera, "The Merry Widow". Over the years the Barn has helped many artists study with outstanding masters in multiple fields be it fine art photography, pottery, painting, clothing design, jewelry, musical instrument training, vocal music, and acting.
Egyptian sculptor, Nassan Gobran and a group of local visionaries recognized the need for a place where artists could work, teach, and learn together. In 1958, they established Sedona's first art center, "Canyon Kiva." They purchased the old Jordan Apple Packing Barn, now known as the Art Barn, which quickly became the community's creative and social hub.
Today the Barn is as lively as ever as the place to find classes, performances, and exhibitions in all ranges of artistic endeavor. When you're Uptown, stop in and check out their calendar. Better yet, do that online and book a seat for a performance or show during your visit.

My wife & I have come to Sedona for quite a few years and are always on the look-out for something that we both like. The Art Center is the only place where we have been moved to spend any money : once on a painting by Greta Lopez and, lately, on a photo by Jack Jackson. Great values!
