I got a luxury haircut with Maria and I am obsessed! I asked to keep the length and add lots of layers and she understood what to do right away. I felt so comfortable during the shampoo and the cut and am definitely coming back to get a refresh on my balayage.

I have been going to Self for over ten years and every time I go I leave with a gorgeous haircut. I am super happy with the services and I have also took my daughter for a haircut. They are child friendly and accommodating. The place is super clean, nicely decorated and minimalistic. I have also tried their hair product and was very satisfied. I've gotten three curly haircuts at Self now, and loved every one. I always walk out of the salon thrilled. I have very curly hair, and after years of bad haircuts, it's a relief to find Self. Maria is so skilled, and really takes the time to talk through what you want, and cuts every curl with care. The wash always comes with an amazing head massage, too. From the moment that I walked in to the moment I left I felt like a perfect little angel on a cloud getting my hair done. I recently switch colorist and Cody was the first person I thought of to getting my roots back to the color that I wanted. When I came in he made me feel comfortable and made sure every inch of my head was tended to perfectly. From the bleach application, to watching my hair, to toning he got everything done perfectly. I was so comfortable with Cody and in Self with the other stylist working around us and never felt judged or that what I wanted or what Cody did was wrong. I’m so happy I discovered Self! I’ve been to a variety of hair salons in Manhattan over the years and never totally satisfied with results. I came to Self for a haircut a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, gaining my trust. I was nervous in making a large hair change dark red to blonde, and blown away by the results. While I still have additional sessions to desired color, I’m so happy with my stage of color. Maria, the owner, is fantastic, very skilled and does a phenomenal job. Her haircuts and colors are A+ and will be my go to salon moving forward.

Irina gave me an awesome curly cut and completely refreshed my overall look! The team also completed a deep conditioning luxury treatment and I love the way it makes my curls feels. Elia also did an amazing job setting my curls. I love my new look and I will be back!

I walked in off the street 3 years ago in tears having had a horrible experience at another salon moments before. The staff was kind and understanding and the owner Maria made an appointment with me for the next day. I have been going back ever since! Maria is an expert on styling and cutting curly hair - a rarity in my experience! Her highlights and color are beautiful and she’s always looking out for the health of my hair and keeping it natural - but better!
