The best school I've ever attended. I'm super glad that I chose this school from tons of options in NY. The curriculum and teachers are excellent! The Shillington network has helped me to get job. I also only hear good reviews about Shillington from co-workers with who I've worked so far. Definitely worth the tuition. However, at the same time, you have to commit 100% to learn properly because it is super fast-paced and especially portfolio time is chaos. I had known nothing about the design industry before Shillington, but graduated with a great portfolio!
If you're looking for a way to fast-track starting a career in Graphic Design, I can't recommend Shillington enough! I finished the full-time program in New York no previous design experience at all and had a wonderful experience. The structure of the course makes it simple to follow along and get the fundamentals of design under your belt. The instructors were kind and helpful, exercises were well thought out and easy to follow, and the briefs were interesting and fun to work on.
I attended the full time course at Shillington NYC as I wanted to switch my career to become a Graphic Designer. Shillington has provided me with what I need for the long run in the creative industry. I have not only learned about design principles and theory but also upgraded my technical design skills. I still remember one of the teachers telling us during portfolio time: “Nothing amazing in life comes easy, you have to work hard for it!” So if you have a strong passion and would like a change, go for it!!! Don’t hesitate! You will love your time at Shillington just as much as I did.
I will always have Shillington to thank for giving me a new career in 3 very short months. The only reason it was possible, it was because of how well Shillington planned the program, to the last detail and minute, with careful thought behind everything we did. It was a great mix of art history, art theory and technical skills. My mentor gave me so much great support during the program, and also after graduation when I had questions about the industry and applying for jobs. I can highly recommend Shillington to anyone who want to become a skilled graphic designer. But you have to be to be passionate, dedicated and prepared to give your all during these three months. It was intense and every day a new challenge, but the best experience I've ever had. I wish I could do it all over again.
I highly recommend Shillington for anyone interested in a career in graphic design. I decided to change career paths and become a graphic designer. The structure and curriculum is intensive and fast-paced, which allows you to learn new concepts quickly and put them to use. The teachers are incredible. They are professional, approachable, and fun, yet they all have high expectations of the students and expect them to work hard and be committed during the entirety of the program. The student environment is very positive and supportive and I loved all the interesting and kind people I met. Attending Shillington was one of the best experiences of my life.
Prior to Shillington, I was a self taught designer figuring out thing on a whim. I was super nervous to take the chance to signup…looking back at it now, it was the best decision I could’ve made. The foundation that they teach you in the program carries through all types of design. The teachers were amazing and the quality of work was held at a high standard - the way it should be!
I attended the full time Shillington course in NYC and what a life changing experience it was! I left with a wealth of knowledge on design principles, the programs and idea generation. There is always more to learn, and I was set up with the right tools and curiosity to do so outside of the course. The teachers were knowledgable, supportive and always encouraged the students to push their work further than they could imagine. If you are considering learning graphic design I couldn't recommend this course more!
I’m from Melbourne, but studied abroad in New York. What better place to study design where inspiration is constantly in the air, in your face and on your subway home?! I was on an M1 vocational student visa, Shillington make it super easy to help process this. I loved the idea of studying for three months, I had a good feeling about Shillington after going to an info session, one of the grad exhibitions and getting advice from a friend who is a Shillumni. Ironically their website design and vibes Shillington gave off resonated with me too! It’s crazy what you can achieve and how much your design eye evolves over the course of three months!
I am from Slovenia and before I've decided to apply for a 3 month course at Shillington I was already studying graphic design at the University of Ljubljana. The main reason why I've applied here was because I didn't feel like my University gave me enough practical skills and I also wanted to create a strong portfolio + New York had always been my dream city to live and study in! I can easily say that Shillington was the best thing that ever happened to me. My work became much stronger after the course and I found the whole approach to starting design briefs to be very valuable, such as the research, mood boards, and sketches. The experience also gave me a glimpse into what it would be like to work for a design studio, which I really liked. Teachers are incredibly talented, kind and genuine in their desire to see all of their students become successful in the design world. The whole program is planned really well and the results at the end are amazing! Can’t really say enough good things about this course!
If you are looking for a sign to enroll. This is it! I was so unsure about changing careers and not actually going to college for art and design, I felt that there was no chance of me getting out of my current 9-5 job. I did my research and attended possibly every open house and possibility in NYC on becoming a graphic artist. I ultimately decided on Shillington by talking to alum and understanding the curriculum. I attended the 3 month intensive - and while this was intensive I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Take it from someone who prior to this course has only opened InDesign by accident and almost a year later after starting the course, has a full time job as a graphic designer. Here, not only have I met the most generous and caring instructors but my classmates are some of the best people I have ever met too. I am very happy with the Shillington Education experience. :
