I was so disappointed with my food order. I had the most amazing oyakodon dish last year and have been searching for a restaurant in Philly that made it. I was excited to finally order it after my first one months ago. Alas when it arrived it looked nothing like my previous dish or the dishes on google images honestly in case my first and only experience was not the norm. This picture was after I rummaged around trying to find any trace of egg which I did not, unless the small brown soft pieces were actually eggs. There was no creaminess or any flavor to it at all. I guess my search for delicious oyakodon continues.
Awesome sushi experience at this restaurant. One member of my party was gluten free, and the server went through the menu in detail to find out exactly what they could and could not eat. Where possible, they were flexible and offered excellent substitutions. Such excellent service. Highly recommend this restaurant!Food: 5/5
We've been going here for almost 30 years. This is our go-to favorite meal out for birthdays, anniversaries, pre-performance, and just for a nice splurge sushi isn't cheap!. Love the food and the people. Love the fact that it is kind of old school in that it is quiet enough to actually talk and hear.Food: 5/5
I warned my family that the Japanese food we get in California is generally pretty good and better than we can get elsewhere. The food here was on par with what we’re used or better. The tempura seemed slightly below average, but the black cod was excellent and plentiful with a generous portion of asparagus, the sashimi platter was quite good hamachi was the winner there, and the lava cake with ice cream for dessert was a nice surprise. I was a little surprised to be offered white or brown rice, but the brown rice ended up being what I’ve come to know as Korean multigrain or purple rice. I also love me some hamachi kama yellowtail collar, but apparently the last one went to the party before we arrived on a Friday night at 7p. It was recommended that we ask to reserve one when making our reservation. Now we know. : Fantastic service and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Ordered Pick Up. No wasabi even if asked twice if it was inside. Good sushi.Food: 4/5
I was dining solo and was greeted and treated well at the sushi bar. I thoroughly enjoyed the sashimi presentation, it was cut thin and folded and served chilled but not too cold such that it melts on the tung as good fish does. The octopus was served with a different cutting technique than I am accustomed to, the sushi chef was proud of his cut and explained it to me. I was treated extremely well by the waitress and her suggestion of tea after sushi was perfect. I highly recommend this place.
We ate at 2nd floor. The owner was accommodating to allow us a group of 7 adults with 2 kids to eat at 2nd floor when first floor was full. Price is reasonable Service is well delivered Quality of food is excellent One star less for wishing menu has more options to order a bigger plate or a boat for group sharing. Recommend to eat here.
The team was so kind and the sushi was excellent. They didn’t have tamago but sent me something else instead. Let me hang for a bit and enjoy my tea and work on my computer.
I've been in Philly for 6 years, and I am so mad at myself for not knowing about this place until very recently. It's a hidden local gem with very authentic Japanese food. Definitely recommend for those craving authentic experience.Food: 5/5
Great variety of rolls that are made with good quality fish. The service was excellent and the place itself was subtle and peaceful very nice piano music playing in the background. Perfect for a calm dinner after a long day.
