Wow. I didn't expect the quality coming out of here! Everything was very tasty. The black garlic ramen was the best I've had in a long time. The fish was excellent and on a short list of local sushi restaurants where I truly love the nigiri. I can't wait to go back.
Lovely and authentic Japanese restaurant. I wasn't expecting to find this at a place on Barbur next to a round table pizza! We've been to Japan 3 times and I can tell you that the staff were speaking Japanese. The food is very good and authentic, and the prices are quite reasonable. I do like they have a parking lot, which is something that you miss out on when going to Murata although they have a paid garage or Masu downtown. We'll visit again soon!
Very disappointed in the quality. In laws were in town and wanted sushi. We just finished the Japanese garden and I was initially drawn to the high reviews for this place. A few things to note: We came in right at 4pm opening and we were sat immediately. And although there werent much traffic in the restaurant, I felt our service was kind of slow. But she was friendly. They have a very extensive bar and a sake menu. This was my favorite part about the restaurant. I had a house cocktail called the beast and it wasn't overly sweet nor bitter. Just the right mix of ingredients. We ordered a mixed tempura and saba for our appetizers. In laws loved the saba. Then we ordered 3 rolls and some nigiris. Rolls that we ordered was dragon and Asahi. And one more that I forgot. Nigiris ordered was - scallop, king salmon, fatty tuna, saba and tobiko. Several things: * The menu offered omakase. But the when we asked for fresh Wasabi our server stated they do not have it. Which is odd because fresh Wasabi is often served with omakase. But this wasn't a big deal to us, I just found it strange. * Fish wasn't that fresh and rice didn't seem to have a good texture. It was filling but it felt very off balance. Nothing was impressionable about the rolls or nigiris to us. Maybe except the fatty tuna fish itself. But the rice was undercooked and falling apart, maybe not enough vinegar. * They do not have quail eggs. This wasn't a big deal to me but it was surprising to see they didn't have this. * tempura ice cream was nothing special Not that it matters but presentation wasn't that great. We wanted to try a new sushi restaurant in town but was very disappointed in the quality of the fish and rice. We do want to give this place another chance. Maybe we came on a bad day.
Yoo! This place is now on the top of my list for sushi and drinks. I love that they have weekly specials, a very nice bar and variety of selections. It got busy very fast but the service was still great. You can go here for sushi, udon, ramen and drinks and alot of other dishes. I especially love the seafood ramen 10/10 would go here again.
Very fresh! And although the sushi selection wasn’t very large they had some unique parings. My wife and I decided to come here for her birthday and we were not disappointed. I ordered tuna yellowfin and salmon sashimi and my wife got a roll. The staff was friendly and welcoming. But what really did it for me was the presentation and the freshness of the fish. We will certainly be back
While the fish is pretty fresh the fish to rice rations are pathetic. I ordered the lunch sushi combo a few months ago and it was great. Ordered again today and it's all rice with the tiniest amount of fish imaginable. Is this a joke? I've never seen sushi prepared like this. Skimping and robbing people of their money at its finest. Will not be ordering here again unless this changes. $25 for a box half filled with rice.
My husband and I loved this place! We were passing through and had dinner here. I ordered the rainbow roll [picture below] and for appetizer we got the seafood dynamite which was super creamy and delicious on a small cast iron. Probably the best scallops I've had along with a good amount of shrimps and mushrooms/onion mix. My husband ordered the katzu Dom not sure if I spelled that right. The portion was very generous and delicious! I ordered the maidens milk- for a drink and it was pretty strong worth it. We sat at the bar because it was a full house. I love this place, if I'm in the are again, we will come back! The staff was incredibly inviting and kind.
The butter fish miso was super soft and delicious. Butter tonkatsu ramen was great too. The wait wasn't too long and the bathrooms were very clean. Tempura was a bit of a let down, one of them was just a slice of onion that had been deep fried into tempura.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: No
The tonkatsu is crispy. The ramen is reportedly delicious. The size of the sashimi is relatively small. The salad is nice.
we went twice thought we found an authentic local japanese restaurant. The service is good overall. The first time we ordered two rolls and feels satisfied about the taste . The second time I decided to try chirashi don . The freshness of fish is below average except salmon. bluefinTuna is okay . Ahi tuna lacks of texture and tastes sour. I am very surprised the quality is not good and presentation is very poor. Update: We went for third time. I didn’t order sashimi .Big island rolls tastes great . Fish is very fresh.
